That is action movie , made in grand scale , with target audience south movie viewer, where as bajirao may be more into love story. Lets see weather historical love story click or not.😆

I am a Ranveer fan and that's my job😆.
Noone can deny Bahubali and Bajirao both are period movies.. Bahubali is action, Bajirao is more love story but there is some action. There is audience for both love story and action movies in India.

I am just pleased it's doing good business... there's nothing about bhaji paw daal deneka... Bajirao might not do well in south, but it has north...
I am just happy that the movie has been appreciated...these are high budget movies and indian audience doesn't really appreciate craft..so i was pleasantly surprised...

Baahubali Box Office Collections in India: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil

2 min read

SS Rajamouli's Telugu film Baahubali has recorded the highest single day and opening day collections in the history of Indian Cinema. The film has collected close to Rs 50 crore, out of which the Hindi version (presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions) has contributed Rs 5.1 crore and the collections from the Telugu version alone was around the 31-32 crore mark.

Baahubali has also opened to extraordinary collections in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala. In Karnataka, all three versions (Hindi, Telugu and Tamil) were released in cities like Bangalore and all three were running to decent occupancies throughout the day.

What makes the Day 1 collections of Bahubali truly staggering is the fact that the film released on a non-holiday. Previously, the biggest single day grosser was Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year and that film released a day after the Diwali holiday, arguably the best day for film business in India.

Even though the film is performing well in states that are not affected by Ramadan, the impact is still there and this is what makes the Day 1 collections of Baahubali mind-boggling.

The Mumbai circuit collections of the Hindi version is around the 2.5 crore mark, which is by far the highest for a dubbed film.

Baahubali' has also opened well in the overseas markets and the global box office collections of the film could have crossed the 60 crore mark.

Note: The entertainment tax for Telugu films in Andhra Pradesh is 15%, whereas Hindi films pay more than 3 times the entertainment tax in a major state like Maharastra. So the gross' collections (including entertainment tax) of Happy New Year is still the highest, but when it comes to net collections (after deducting entertainment tax) and distributors share (after deducting exhibitors / theatre share), Baahubali is the highest single day grosser in the history of Indian Cinema.

Really? 😆 So ppl should only watch films to appreciate craft & not for entertainment or timepass? So how did films like Piku, Udaan, Barfi etc. do well? I think the audience will appreciate anything so long as its well made & entertaining..Of course there are films which we feel are utter trash which go on to do great business- CE for instance..I hated the film but am not gonna go around questioning people's taste..It did well cos a lot of ppl found it entertaining..I don know why the audience is dissed the moment a supposedly well made film flops..Ppl have the right to choose, don they?

P.S. This has nothing to do with BM..It might do really well for all we know..This was just a general observation cos i often see ppl dissing the audience the moment a film they liked flops..Different ppl look for different things in films..Some just want relaxation for 3 hours so they'd rather watch entertaining masala films..Doesn't mean they don appreciate 'craft' 😆

No, that's not 100% correct analysis. Period movies have always bore the brunt of indian audience.. and this should change is my view. One bahubali becoming hit wont change it but it's moving in good direction.
And i am myself a fan of masala and i don't diss the audience for loving it...u probably diss it more than me (always criticizing besharam😆).. DDD did ok business, i didn't diss the audience for making abcd2 a hit and DDD an average.

i am not here to argue.. i was just saying i am mightily pleased to see bahubali doing well...because later in year bajirao is coming and it needs this audience to go to theatres because a lot of effort has gone into it...and that will be seen by the opening of BM...overall business of course will be decided by the content... that's all 😉
