Agree with everything you said except for that 70% figure. Most of the country living in rural areas is still pretty conservative to things like guys-girls mingling and love marriage. But yes, in the metro cities like Karachi and Lahore, everything has become open and liberal. I actually like it because a good balance is being maintained. Guys-girls are hanging out together, whether as a group of friends or alone, but as long as they are over doing it, it's all good.
I do agree with you that it doesn't happen in the rural areas. and my 70% was exaggeration. Like, I know for a fact that what happens in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad doesn't necessarily happen in Peshawar and Abottabad . But what started from Karachi-Lahore has now reached Islamabad, and if this liberal approach continues to spread then it won't be stoppable.
I'm not against being liberal, or being modernized but let's just say that what I saw during my trip wasn't too impressive. Girls with guys at 2 am in the morning , in their cars. Girls smoking. etc. Teenage girls sleeping with boys.. gosh -.- Girls wearing westernised body fitted dresses to proms. etc. Now Yes, it's maybe 1 girl in 10 girls, but it's becoming a trend. People are getting impressed by one another. Not in education, but in all this..
Despite all this , , there still are very educated girls and boys in both india and pakistan, with cultural values, who maintain class, dignity..etc no doubt, and I hope and pray it only increases.
I believe in #mychoice, but the right one.
