It is too long as a movie with too many characters (I lost track of who was who)...The first part starts getting very slow. Better editing would have helped a lot. It picks up 5 minutes from interval.

Pluto's voiceovers are annoying after the first 10 minutes of the movie. The target audience they're catering too is not so stupid that they need to be spoonfed everything..and Aamir Khan's comments on humans felt like an extension of PK.

I found Ayesha's story most fascinating -- and that was sadly the most underwritten and rushed. They could have easily edited stuff beforehand and focused more on her story. Ranveer-Anu have good chemistry but their story is so boring. ...it's so been there done that with no new tadka, I just didn't care for them as a couple at all..I would rather watch their other movies. This one didn't do anything for them..In fact they didn't really need a love interest for Kabir and could have cut out Anushka's part completely. Had Sunny do the whole 'follow your dreams' arc. Noorie-Rana's R&J story was more interesting. Shefali-Anil had the actual closure to their story.

Acting really lifts this film. The 4 Mehras are all very good, each getting scenes to shine. It will (hopefully) resurrect Shefali and Anil's careers. For PC and Ranveer, they were very very good, but I wouldn't call it career-defining...perhaps it's not meant to be that either. Ranveer's comic timing was used very effectively here. The scene in the medical center when they finally start talking is awesome...Ranveer's reaction to his dad's hypocrisy. 😆 Farhan is good, too little of him. Anushka is same old. Vikrant is hot. Rahul-Zarina Wahab are good. The supporting cast is good.

Without good acting, this one would have fallen completely flat...because the script itself isn't that strong.

OH the climax --it's RIDICULOUS. The last 15-20 minutes are completely awful. How did pretentious and 'classy' Zoya Akhtar approve a climax that can easily be found in her cousin Farah/Sajid Khan's 'massy' nonsensical films? Very bad taste in the mouth with that.

DDD is a big commercial film, BV was not like that so the comparing is ver lame.

Even when i was watching the movie, I felt like the scenes with Anu could have been totally chopped off. RS-Anu's love track is what made the movie unnecessarily long. As you say, they could have just focused on kabir's aspiration to be a pilot. And also in the end when kabir jumped off the ship to go after Anu, I just didnt buy it.
