Why Rekha really quit Fitoor

Amid reports of Rekha opting out of Abhishek Gattu' Kapoor's Fitoor and being instantly replaced by Tabu, here's the reason why the veteran actress quit the project, which stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif. "It's not because Rekha didn't like the way she looked. That's bullshit," says a source in the know. "No, the reason for her abrupt departure is something else."

According to an actor from the film, there was a "complete collapse of communication" between the actress and the director. "They just couldn't see eye-to-eye on how Rekha's character was to be interpreted. Gattu had one image in mind, Rekha had another. They were working at cross-purposes. Neither party was happy with the end results." Says a production source, "Replacing Rekha was a hard creative decision. Luckily, Tabu had not taken up anything after Haider. And she was familiar with the Kashmiri milieu after doing the film. She fit right in."
