Music is an addiction for Amaal Mallik who believes his life will be full of nasha in 2016. The year has already begun on a high note for him with the songs of Airlift -Soch na sake and Tu bhoola jise -that he has solely composed, ruling music charts. "I was working on Hero when filmmaker Nikhil Advani challenged me to create a patriotic number. I knew that today's youth can't connect with words like dharti and mitti. Lyricist Kumaar wrote a ballad Tu bhoola jise that could pass off as a romantic song. The desh bhakti spirit was not in your face. For me, the challenge was to incorporate the film's narrative into the music, bring the instrumentation of the 90's and keep the vibe acoustic," says Amaal. Besides Sanam Re and Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, the music of which is right up his alley , the composer is also thrilled about his maiden collaboration with Karan Johar for Kapoor & Sons (Since 1921).He elaborates, "I've created quirky music for it. There is a wonderful track by Badshah that he has sung and not just rapped. My brother Armaan and I have also sung together for the first time. Working with Karan sir was a fulfilling experience. I'm also grateful to him for recommending me for Baar Baar Dekho, in which I've composed Sidharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif's honeymoon song."

The 20-something musician admits that his biggest challenge will be the soundtrack of Neeraj Pandey's Dhoni: The Untold Story. "Its palette is vast with a good mix of orchestral, rock and lounge music," he sums up.
