Other than Badlapur all his other roles have been the same, and from the looks of it that includes ABCD2 and Dilwale. I don't think he's any more versatile than Parineeti honestly. He's a good dancer though, no one can deny that. Aesthetically he's very short and does not have the most attractive features out there. I'm not sure if superficial KJo would have given him a role in SOTY if he wasn't a Dhawan. So he's also been very very lucky.

He is definitely very hard working and tries his best . Luck has favoured him too.

You can get the launch pad if you are to the manor born but ultimately he has to deliver ..he can not be shoved down the audience's throat for too long.

He's a good actor. I see him do well & in BW everyone of consequence is extremely hard working!!!! There is NO other way to thrive even if you screw around with everyone & anyone. Hard work is absolutely imperative.

I was surprised when he was complimented on SOTY b/c while he was good for his debut movie for me Sid was the stronger actor. I know people don't believe me but really-SM is the better actor b/w the 2 & Alia is the best. That woman is going to be a superstar!!!

Varun dances very well, acts well & clearly is really ambitious! He will happen one way or the other.

BINGO.

And while it's so Easy being a star kid, it's also that much tougher. Everyone has their own battles to fight. And everyone gains paths, either you carve it yourself or you're handed one but what YOU make of it, is all upto you. So it's amusing when people whine "oh he's a star kid he gets everything" yes he does it have easier but it's as tough as everyone else b/c BW is MERCILESS &'the audience even more so. He's made it till here b/c he's good & lucky & no-one should take that away from him.

On a serious note, yes I agree that he is very ambitious. That becomes even more clear during his film promotions. He's almost calculating in his approach to everything. He will become a superstar one day if his luck continues as it has been the last 4 years. But not every superstar has been super talented and he's another one added to the list 😉

Ha ha ha oh I knew you'll love this!! 😆But I mean it- From the promos itself I found Sid to be the better actor but then I thought it was KJo promoting his lover but the movie convinced me otherwise. They had equally fleshed out roles b/c he's the son of a very successful Prod & KJo is a total ass like that, he won't dare cut his role or give him a less prominent one. So ya while Varun's a good actor &'a really good dancer he's below average in looks & neither of his other traits shine enough for him to be a superstar but then again- They said the same about King Khan. 😃

Bwood is trying to .. well... make him happen as much as.. any other starkid or non-starkid with mentors/PH/godfathers backing them..

It is just that.. Varun signs and/or is rumoured to sign way too many films .. and there is always some news or the other coming out about that..

So thats why it feels that way..

who is trying to make him happen? i don't see it...it's just that his personality seems excited and happening but nobody's doing it actually...the best director he has worked so far is sreeram.When Varun's potential reaches a good point, he will be offered movies from top directors...his acting in badlapur shows he still needs 1-2 years

Ermm...what a perfect ocassion 😆
Well IMO he might not be the Best looking guy out there but he is very charming(both on & off screen)...I can understand his dialogues for he has a crystal clear diction whereas EVERY other young actor simply mumble their lines...Varun's biggest asset is his Screen presence..Besides he has done just 4 films and has kinda proven his versatility he can pull off Masala comedy, endearing lover boy roles and evena psycho anti-hero.. he is the best dancer of this generation. And its good that he is mostly in news for his work and not bcoz of some trophy girlfriends & PR link-ups..so yeah glad that he happened 😆its has just been 2-3 years,he is doing well for himself,working with different PH's & not just clinging to Dharma!!
