The news making rounds in the film trade is that Ram Gopal Varma is all set to make a re-entry into Bollywood. We're also told that he has cracked the basic plot of his next film which is going to be the second sequel to his Sarkar and in all probability, this third part will be called Sarkar Returns.
Well, we all know that the earlier two parts featured Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan and the third installment will also cast them. If sources close to RGV are to be believed he has already had a word with the Bachchans and they have liked the basic plot of the film.
So, if all goes well, we will soon see RGV return to Bollywood with Sarkar Returns!
Now ABCD 3?
Remo D'Souza's ABCD 2 is all set to release and the director is currently working on the trailer which will release on April 22. However, it seems D'Souza is also ready with an idea for the third installment of the film. When contacted, he confirmed this saying, "Usually when I am towards the end of my film, some idea or the other always crops up in my head for another venture and the same thing has happened with ABCD 2. I have an idea but will work on it only when I finish my other film with Tiger Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez. In the meantime, my writers will start working on the third installment. We want to make it a franchise film."
ABCD 2 releases on June 19 and soon after that, D'Souza will start shooting for his next with Balaji Motion Pictures featuring Shroff and Fernandez. We have also heard that the makers of this film had earlier decided on the title Turbanator but it appears that this name is already with someone else so now they are looking for a new one.
Cannes Mubarak!
Masaan has been selected for screening at the prestigious Cannes film festival this year. And when actor Sanjai Mishra heard his film was selected he was surprised and asked his director Neeraj Ghaywan, Achcha, yeh sach hai kya? Mummy ko batau'.
"So far none of my films have ever been to an international festival so I am very excited that finally the world will see my work," says an ecstatic Mishra."I am also happy for my entire team which has worked very hard. At the same time I am impressed with my director who marks his debut with this film. During shooting he would tell me that Masaan is meant for the international market and this has come true," he adds.
The actor also reveals that off late he has been offered some good films.
"I have been in the industry for a very long time and don't even know how many films I have done so far," he says. "Earlier, I would do any film for a living but now I am focusing on choosing good films like Aankhon Dekhi, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Masaan so I am happy that people are approaching me with good scripts," he concludes.
Vasan Bala's Next
Action director Shyam Kaushal's sons are now getting ready for their Bollywood debut. Vicky Kaushal's Masaan has been selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival while we hear that Sunny Kaushal's short film Bunny, directed by Vasan Bala, will now be made into a feature film. The film is on the lines of Bonnie and Clyde, a serial killer couple. The film also features Sayani Gupta. When contacted she revealed, "I play the title part in Vasan Bala's Bunny."
The New Dilemma
After Happy Ending didn't do great business at the box office, there was a buzz in trade circle that Raj-DK's next, Farzi has been scrapped. But it appears that the directors were actually re-working on the script. Now it seems they are ready with it but not getting dates for at least the next three months from Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as they all are busy with their respective films. We hear that, as a result of this, the directors have started working on two more scripts as a stand-by.
Note that after Happy Ending, which they wrote keeping Saif Ali Khan in mind, they have decided not to cast anyone till the story is complete as it affects their creativity. The next two films are likely to feature newcomers.
Udta Punjab In One Go
Seems like Abhishek Chaubey is leaving no stone unturned for his next Udta Punjab whose shooting is currently on in Amritsar. We hear that the director has decided to finish the shoot in one go. The first schedule is over and even before the start of the second schedule everyone was asked to be present so that they could remain in character. A source from the sets reveals, "There is still 25 days shoot left and currently, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh's track is on. The entire film will be finished in the next one month and some songs will remain which will be shot mostly in Mumbai. Also an early next year release is being planned because of which the film needs to be finished by May with some patch work left."
Udta Punjab touches on three different stories and their impact on each other.
It's Called Runner
Sudhir Mishra is currently busy shooting Aur Devdas featuring Richa Chadda in the lead. And in all probabilities, the movie will release somewhere around October-November as only the last schedule is left to shoot. Soon after that Mishra will start working on his next about which he says, "My next movie is called Runner, a film based on athletes. It is not a bio-pic but based on real events. I haven't thought of the casting yet as I am busy with my current film."
When asked who will be the center of attraction - a male or a female - he says, "My films are never women- or men-centric, but always character-centric. In this film also there will be both a male and female athletes." The film will go on the floors by the end of this year.
Working Hard
Sabbir Khan's last release Heropanti garnered good reviews and also marked the debut of two upcoming superstars Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. The director is currently conducting workshops for his next titled Baaghi - The Rebel, featuring Tiger Shroff with a new girl cast opposite. The film is an action-packed romantic thriller and requires a lot of action for which junior Shroff is being trained under a foreign action director.
Guess Who?
There was a lot of chaos during the last schedule of this recently concluded movie. The director was not happy with the interference of the producer and so decided to leave the shoot and returned to Mumbai. The producer was also adamant and decided to go ahead with completing the shoot and got in touch with various associate directors but none was willing to come and do the job, according to the producer.
Finally, one of the leading men of the film spoke to the original director and promised him that he would have his way. Finally, the director went back and completed the shoot.
We hope now, since the post-production of the film is going on, the director has his say!!!
