Im not settled outside India and for a fact I know some Indian men and their mentality is disgusting... They think if a woman is wearing short clothes, she is inviting rape... And these are not uneducated people, but highly qualified ones... Thankfully, most of whom I know are really nice... But the mentality of some Indian men is really shallow.

Feminists are on a roll yet again ! š„³
Nandita may have been misquoted ,the context may have been changed , Nandita may have made a U turn but feminists will go as far as finding ways to justify such an offensive generalization ! .. š ..now i have no doubt in my mind that Modern Contemporary Feminism is WRONG !! <= Another generalization #MyChoice !
P.S. rits08 this post is not directed towards you, just wanted to make it clear to avoid confusion .. š

Sorry, there was no context given! No one said context has been changed, because no context has been given.I don't believe she has been misquoted.

Operative word 'May' .. look i highlighted it for your benefit .. šMoreover , some people were asking for the whole interview from which this statement might have been taken , so thats what i meant by context .. when a statement is taken out of context , its meaning does change to an extent .. i think i have seen enough Bolly articles on this forum to vouch for that .. š

Yes, I am asking for context. That is different that saying context has been changed, like you are saying of those in the thread--the feminists finding ways to justify as you say.Again, we do not know the context. No one is saying context has been changed. How can the context be changed when it is given without any context? Give the context of the quote and then I will criticize and harshly judge if needed. But till then, when this is given with no context, and when I believe this statement is justified in certain contexts, I will refrain from judging her remarks as over-generalization, uncalled for, pseudo-feminist, misandrist, etc etc. What does your saying 'may' have to do with it? I just clarified to say, no I don't believe she was misquoted. Definite. I don't believe she was misquoted. So whatever attacks you want to give on the feminists speaking up for her (which includes me since I too tried to provide possible context in this thread), believing she may have been misquoted doesn't apply to me. But I do believe context within which that quote was given is important.
