But it doesn't apply to all actresses. Her own dad Anil was nothing on his own and owed his hits to Sridevi and Madhuri's star power! Yet those actresses were never paid more than the men. What economical sense it makes then?

On the other hand Salman would have given a 33 cr opening even if there was a newbie opposite him... See I am not saying if its right or wrong...just saying why it is the way it is...that is it...I think it would be great if both male and female actors get the same pay...but then BW is different from other industries...

If I am not mistaken...in the Indian TV soaps...most of the times these established female actors are paid more than there male counterparts...I read it somewhere.

No. Check any list. Top female stars whose shows used to run solely on their characters still got paid less than males. Salshi Tanwar and Smriti Irani never got paid as much as Ronit Roy and Ram Kapoor even though TV was all about Tulsi-Parvati back then.

Don't tell me you read the edited bit 😆 I thought why make someone jobless by doing a better job 😆-------I agree. The fame, the BO pull isn't the copyright of the male species. By her logic, there are still many examples where girls were robbed of their share. Discrimination is in your face, not even a dog will miss it 😆 #IfUKnowWhatIMean 😆

BI you're cheating you're switching to Salman 😆 Means indirectly even you agree for Bang Bang Hrithik and Kat deserved equal pay j/k 😆
MUMBAI: Contrary to the world of films, television is a medium where disparity between men and women does not exist and women are treated on an even keel. An actor like Sakshi Tanwar commands the same remuneration as her counterpart Ram Kapoor in the hugely popular television show Bade Achche Lagte Hain. The Queen Bee of Indian television Ekta Kapoor said, "There is no gender bias and the two actors are paid the same amount."
Though Vidya Balan is trying to bring about a change in the world of cinema by making films with women work at the box office, the film industry is still a male dominated space. Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif may be very popular, but they don't really get credit for their contribution to a successful movie. Scriptwriter Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who has been the creative head of a television channel in the late 90s, said, "During my time, the content used to be male dominated but when it came to remuneration, everybody was equal. Rajendra Gupta and Neena Gupta drew the same salary."
Television is all about the popularity of the show and the character one plays in a particular show. There have been characters like Ammaji, Daya, Tulsi, Prerna, Anandi and Mihir who have become immortal on television. An industry insider said, "When Smriti Irani quit Kyunki Saas..., she drew Rs 60,000 an episode, which was probably the highest remuneration at that time." Avika Gor, who played the young Anandi in Balika Vadhu, earns Rs 35,000 a day.
