That's why i put speech marks on either side of critics. Delusional Sonam says that.

Hope you don't mind, but I have to disagree with you there.

The film was about Haider and his mother. They were the main characters. The whole film was focused on their story. Shraddha's character was clearly a supporting role and Tabu's was the main female role.. There is no rule that the protagonist's girlfriend is always the main female lead. But yes, I suppose being nominated for Best Supporting Actress at least guaranteed that Tabu will get an award.

On the other hand, Sonam being nominated for Khoobsurat was a big joke. Yes, comic roles should get more recognition. But Sonam was terrible in this film. I don't know what comedy she's talking about. The film was so dull and boring, I did not laugh once. Terribly disappointed with that film. 😔

No, not @ all!😳
I read Shakespeare a long time ago & i remembered the mom's role as a supporting one & was too lazy to check if my memories are right. so i never understood why peeps were so upset about Tabus nominations. Shame on me, eh!😆 Plus with all the promos of the movie putting Shahid & Shraddha ka lovestory in the front, it explains how that Tabu got stuck in nominations as a supporting actress for all awards.Maybe she should have protested this right from the beginning & honesty i think that if she was nominated as best actress, she would have won the critics award @ least.
I doubt anyone was more surprised than Sonam herself for her nomination, lol.
As for KS, it is a matter of personal taste, i guess. The movie was not perfect, but which movie is?The whole movie was resting on Milis shoulders & told from her point of vue. Sonam did a very good job @ portraying her imho. She mades you root for her & feel/cringe for the middle class girl out of place in a higher class. I for myself really liked the concept & the girl who is not afraid to stand for herself & say things like they are. The humour also is definitely right up my alley! I do love modern fairytales with flawed characters & imperfect circumstances & KS gives me that. Who knows? Maybe a 2nd watch could change your mind!😉

Filmfare should've given Rani the critics best actress, at the risk of being called out for bias. Rani deserved it. Alia's win was undeserving.

Sonam didn't even deserve a nomination. Btw hadn't she once said she doesn't care for awards? And that audience and 'critics' appreciation was enough for her?

I hope you don't mind me quoting you on this.
Yes, Rani was another great candidate for the critics award!
As for Sonams quote, i dont know how it means that she should reject any nomination she gets. She has always beeen gracious about her nominations, even if it was Gantha Awards. Sonam has been saying for the longest that she doesnt like the idea of competition & she sees awards more of a recognition of a job done, good or bad.
Her stand is different from Aamir or Kangana, so why is this an issue?

@TOP: Said it well!

Kangana was far better than most, forget about Sonam. 😆😆😆

And Sonam said it best-Tabu was the main lead of the movie, she even over-shadowed Shahid who put in his career best perfomance!!!!

I think its criminal that she wasn't given a Critics Best Actress for Haider. 😡

I disagree. Boyhood was a story of a boy growing from childhood into young adult. Ellar Coltrane was the only main protagonist as the story revolved around him. There was no female protagonist. Patricia Arquette along with Ethan Hawke who played his parents were supporting characters.

Requiem for a Dream revolved around four main characters and Ellen Burstyn was one of the four leading characters. It was Ellen Burstyn who shined the most out of the four and got the most appreciation for her performance from every quarters of critics.

Here Filmfare messed up. Tabu was definitely the main protagonist along with Shahid as the story revolved around mother-son relationship. Maybe they wanted to reward Tabu's performance and the only way to give her the award was to list her in supporting female category. The best female actor winner was fixed between PC & Kangana and they surely didn't want to go against the flow.

Ethan played supporting character who comes and goes, but not Patricia. Film is also about her journey, the wrong choices she repeatedly made in her life and her relationship with children bringing them up largely on her own. That's one of the most meaty roles any actress could hope for. Same argument could be made about Tabu as well saying its about Haider and the whole Kashmir situation. But that's not the way to look at it.

Yes, I agree Tabu was the main lead of Haider and she should have got the award for that not for supporting role ...she was better than Kangana/PC . Another deserving one was Rani for Mardaani but everyone ignored her .
