Shriram Raghavan subverts the formula and renders minimalistic, absorbing thrills. #Badlapur is great, and so is @Varun_dvn Version 2.0
Also, good to see a Bollywood movie without commercialised frills and needless lowest common denominator servicing. #Badlapur
Actors @Nawazuddin_S & @Varun_dvn show a menacing medley of mercurial madness in @BadlapurFilm - It's a 'genre' classic.
@Nawazuddin_S & @Varun_dvn have created their most dexterous & compelling movie to date. @BadlapurFilm is a masterpiece in its 'genre'.
@Varun_dvn as Raghu in @BadlapurFilm is unforgiving & unforgettable. A rare combo a character would possess. Tour de Force!
#BADLAPUR, Sriram Raghavan's best film till date, and the movie to beat in 2015. My #DedhMinuteReview (4.5/5, BTW): http://youtu.be/zlfjJBtXSZM

Once upon a crime in Badlapur...!
Sriram Raghavan has a queer way of story-telling which is impulsive, dark yet entertaining. He has the ability to keep you hooked. Otherwise who would have thought of Badlapur as such an apt name for the word revenge, a lesser known suburb outside Thane. Now it might even see its rents and rates swelling up with this kind of cinema association.
Am so inspired to keep my feelings crisp and edgy as the movie itself-
Real stuff... No mercy and absolutely no explanations for the actions
Tremendous shock value...you will love to hate Nawaaz...he lays the foundation in the so-called beginning not to be missed
Edgier as it moves ahead..interval makes you plead for more
Slows down after interval however doesn't lose your eyes for a minute.
Revenge as it matures get more frightful and deadlier...Axe forgets but the tree remembers !
There's nothing positive or negative...Cold-blooded is the game here !
You will unknowingly change sides with the characters in the second half...No repentance!
To sum up: Twisted, stimulating, invigorating and heady to the core.
So in the first half you feel so much for Varun, it's the second half which brings his meaner and crooked angles and edges , all lead indicators to a brilliant actor, the metamorphosis of his character in a span of 15 years has been depicted seamlessly...And it's just the beginning of what he is becoming.
Nawaz is the Nawab of acting. It's so much fun to be enjoying his era of acting. His character portrays so much that he spins your head and makes you sit and wonder what's next on him more than the story. He can make you laugh at him and at the very next moment loathe him. Badlapur cannot be imagined without Nawaaz. You will love him rebuking a crippled prison inmate Murli !
Sriram loves the suburbs , Pune, Yerwada jail as was evident in Johnny Gaddar and Ek Hasina thi and how Pune and Badlapur become so much a part of Badlapur, the movie. His props are so simple yet so effective. Trains , cars, wine, hammers are all used to take it forward. His characters are as queer as they fit themselves in the complementing screenplay. Slow at times the screenpaly is so akin to a fast bowler walking slowly to produce another stunner of a delivery.
You slip into the movie so well that barring a lazy moment or two , movie sprints as the interval sign stares you as Vinay pathak stares Varun, He's in the movie too alongside Radhika Apte so aptly cast and Divya Dutta who gets her share so well !
Such movies ought to be chewed and digested. The violence might hit you like bricks at times. There are a very few rough patches in the form of lazy edits too..guess it was intentional.
While Badlapur is a sweet revenge on melodrama and mediocrity , Sriram seeks revenge on his Agent Vinod...So Don't miss it ! Neither the beginning, nor any reel.
