For eg. when we blame Islam for the act of fanatic group ISIS then we are just giving justification for them that they are fighting for their religion.
2. I don't know what quaran or islam says but certainly it depend how people in that faith interpret that . Just for eg in the paris incident ISIS motivated perpetrator , police officer whom they murdered while he was countering them and the person who hide other in freezer by saving them from terrorist all of them are having same identity of Islam. Now how will we identify them , shall we say those perpetrator are representing Islam and problem is in their faith rather than in them , groups like ISIS who themselves claim they are true representation of islam .
3. Before IS certainly there were different kind of faith even atheist were there in IRAQ. So also population who carry the Islam , we did not witness the same thing like IS among them . After all those people are the same , and i am sure many follow the same religion as like IS group.
Just for eg. of IS ,
like ISIS target is against people of other faith
then against in their own sub branch like shia vs. sunni
then against in their own sub branch sufi and other branches.
then against people having the same identity that they claim who differ with them .
Are they representing islam here as they claim ? shall we blame the group or identity they carry?
My opinion is still when we blame their religion that they claim they are representing we are only helping them to legitimate their claim and in their power struggle . Its better to counter them by snatching their identity and cause they claim fighting for instead legitimising their claim.
I am not aware what same kind of other organisation were there before Al qaueda, ISIS . Religion always used as a tool to grab power and i think this fanatic phenomenon is of recent past few years of say 25 years in their power struggle so also interference of other countries in those region.
