A StarGuild Award named after Shahid's Great-Grandfather on his mother's side... K A Abbas...WOW!!...⭐️...K. Abbas Award for Social Conciousness in Cinema!!

Nice to hear Shahid talking about his par-nana...he has such a wonderful family tree on his mothers's side in addition to having Pankaj as his father..

It seems this award was introduced last year only...on the recommendation of Amitabh..I guess as K A Abbas was his first director..he paid his homage this way!!..too cool!..😳

Shahid great grandson of K A Abbas


Educated at Aligarh Muslim University. Formerly a journalist and film critic for Bombay Chronicle.
In 1969, he gave a newcomer by the name of Amitabh Bachchan a break for his new movie Saat Hindustani (1969).
Member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1966
Grandfather of actress Neelima Azim ( Her father is Anwar Azeem the great poet and K.A.Abbas' s son).
Great grandson is actor Shahid Kapoor. ( Neelima's son).

And his mother's father is a famous a pakistani poet.

So only his this grandfather was pakistani and the rest of the family Indian? Or whole his mother's side is pakistani?

I don't think he was Pakistani..he was a Urdu Poet..Shahid stayed in Delhi with his grandparents till the age of 10..

Khwaja Ahmad Abbas (Hindi: - ) (7 June 1914 - 1 June 1987), popularly known as K. A. He was the maker of important Hindi films such as Saat Hindustani (1969) and Do Boond Pani (1972), both of which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration, Palme d'Or nominated (Cannes Film Festival) Pardesi (1957) and Shehar Aur Sapna (1963), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.

As a screenwriter, Khwaja Ahmad Abbas is considered one of pioneers of Indian parallel or neo-realistic cinema, having penned films like the Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Neecha Nagar (1946), Jagte Raho, Dharti Ke Lal, Awara, Saat Hindustani and Naya Sansar. Apart from this, he wrote the best of Raj Kapoor films, Awaara, Shri 420, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby and Henna.[1]

His column Last Page', holds the distinction of being one of the longest-running columns in the history of Indian journalism. The column began in 1935, in Bombay Chronicle, and moved to the Blitz after the Chronicle's closure, where it continued until his death in 1987.[2] He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1969, by Government of India.
