Koimoi Box Office Power Index

The Koimoi Power Index is a tool that measures the success rate of the B-town celebrities and here we are looking at the status of power index post some big releases such as Happy New Year and Bang Bang in the second half.

In the first half of 2014, we saw a major change as Salman Khan toppled Shah Rukh Khan with the super success of his film Kick. The actor stood at the top position with 850 points, till Happy New Year released. The actor, who had his first entry into the 200 crore with Kick, is currently on 2nd position, as Shah Rukh Khan gave a tough competition to Salman Khan with his Diwali release Happy New Year with 1000 points. Though the film pushed its way to 200 crores, giving him his second consecutive 200 crore film after Chennai Express, SRK now leads the race in the power index.

While Hrithik Roshan's Bang Bang was expected to be a biggie, the film pulled off a decent business but did not help Hrithik much to change its rank in the table. The actor who has two movies in the 100 crore club postBang Bang and one in the 200 crore club, currently stands on the fifth position with 450 points.

Standing on the fourth position is Ajay Devgn who post this year's release Singham Returns has 500 points. The actor still has his other film Action Jackson lined up for December.

Aamir Khan, who yet has his release PK to hit the theaters in December, is expected to make history again like Dhoom 3. The actor is currently on the third position with 600 points. The Power Index is expected to go through a great change as PK, Action Jackson release.

The Weightage has been applied as mentioned below:

• Each 100 crore club movie has been given 100 points. So the number of movies in the club multiplied by 100 gives power points for 100 crore presence.
• Each 200 crore club movie has been given 200 points. So the number of movies in the club multiplied by 200 gives power points for 200 crore presence.
• Each Top 10 Overseas club movie has been given 50 points. So the number of movies in the Overseas list multiplied by 50 gives power points for Top 10 overseas presence.
• Sum of all the above points is the Total Box Office Power Index Points.
• When there is tie between 2 stars' Box Office Power Index Points, then they are placed in the Box Office Power Index Position based on the collections of their respective film.
• Total Box Office Power Index Points leads to Box Office Power Index Position rating.
