Movies like HAHK,HSSH and K3G won't be made in HW.

Exactly! Why do BW need to make such a movie? BW is good in masala, family comedies/dramas and that is its strength. I don't like the whole go after HW mentality.

I think Bollywood should anyway stay away from it...HW is already making great sci-fi films then why should we go after that too...keep doing what we do best...make masala movies.

And honestly, no HW sci-fi movie can give JOY as much as a great Bollywood masala film...Bollywood films are like festivals.

And about BW first they should focus on ACTING most of bollywood actors can't even be called actors! They should just produce films because they're in this profession for the money a lone.

It's def not his best. I think his best will always be Momento but Guy Pearce was so effin' perfect.

The only problem was that there was a lot of scientific jargon that people aren't going to understand b/c it wasn't explained. But then again, I also think it would be a waste of time explaining black holes, worm holes, 5th dimensions to people never exposed to those ideas.

The best part of the movie is the ending. Nearly everyone is the theatres gasped. Honestly, I liked it b/c it's so different and unique and makes you think. I also couldn't stop crying whenthe scenes of Cooper aka Matthew and his daughter came up. Matthew is surely grown to be such a good actor. The dialouges about love that Anne says are so touching and thought-provoking.

We need two things for that to happen.

1) Money
2) Talent

HW movies' budgets touch billions and are easily ten times more than BW's. We don't have the resources to pump in so much money into a movie. Right now, even the biggest hit here hasn't amassed 300 crore, where as Interstellar's budget itself is 1000 crore. So that is one setback.

And then we have talent. We have so much talent in us that we can overcome the first challenge using our talent. We are the ones who put Mangalyaan on Mars, in less than one tenth of the money that it took for the US. And that too, we did it successfully on the first attempt, unlike them. So talent is not lacking, we have it in huge amounts. We can use it to overcome the money challenge and still deliver a good product.

But we are still not able to do it. Why? I don't blame Bollywood per se, I would blame the people.

They are the ones who let shit movies of Salman 100 crore movies. If they stopped encouraging that shit and only watch good cinema, the percentage of good cinema would naturally increase. Everybody, then, would make an effort to do a good movie, not a mindless movie which disrespects the intelligence of the viewer like all harebrained movies these days. And eventually such sci-fi extravaganzas will also come into picture because then, competition will be between good cinema and everyone will look to better the other.

I finally saw it and sorry to say but I was bitterly disappointed! I entered the theaters with so much expectations because of Nolan's reputation as a director and a brilliant cast(I am ardent fan of Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway and I respect Sir Michael Caine as an actor and also Matthew McConaughey has come a long way as a performer) but it was such an underwhelming experience. The movie was too overlong, slow-paced and lacked a soul! The direction didn't impress me too much either and the screenplay was just bland!

But the performances salvaged the film for me, the ace actors were the only saving grace

Matthew - amazing 👍🏼 I used to loathe this guy but now I see him in a new light after

Anne Hathaway - just brilliant as Amelia Brand! She has grown so much as a performer👏 She as come a long way from her Princess Diaries days. Rock on babe, you're awesome!

Jessica Chastain - another fantastic actress! Her ' Hi dad, you son of a bitch' line had me in stitches 🤣 She was phenomenal as usual. We need to see her more in big Hollywood projects as the main protagonist! She is very very talented with an amazing screen presence.

Michael Caine - his role was limited but still he was competent as usual 😃

The other supporting players were all great too especially Casey Affleck and the girl who played the young Murphy was very good! and a special mention to Matt Damon(in a cameo appearance) who just tole the show with his wacky character.

so overall, I wasn't blown away by Interstellar on the whole but the great performances saved the film for me. IMHO, Gravity was a million times better than Interstellar.

Actually, I can't say I have watched a BW film that has completely blown me away in recent times. The last film I truly loved was 3 Idiots.
Forget Interstellar, we get stuff Krissh 3 and Ra.One as Sci-Fi films in BW...Sci-Fi or mythical films are not something that rakes in the money. And nowadays, seems like that's the ONLY thing that matters. Putting aside films like Gravity, Interstellar, & Inception. Can you ever imagine something like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc being re-made in BW? NOPE. They would break into item song and dance. The audience is not accepting towards that genre, they won't make the money they want to. Instead, we get a Golmaal series or Dhoom series.

Bollywood caters to an audiance where 'Thoda action, thoda pyar, thoda dance, thoda gaana, hero-heroine together, THE END" That is basically the outline of majority of the films.

BW's strength however lies in family masala's but they don't make many family films these days anymore. Can't say I can go watch BW movies along with my family because things have been unnecessarily sexualized. They just randomly throw in bikini scenes, love-making scenes, and kissing scenes where the actor is evidently awkward and most importantly, it isn't doing much for the plot. I doubt there are many people in BW who even care about making a good film or value the art of filmmaking or acting. All I here is 100crore, 200 crore, opening day collection, film-fare best actor award, who is the next Khan, who is the next Box Office King, etc, etc... You get the point...
