Saif Ali Khan's character from 'Happy Ending' inspired from 'Californication's Hank Moody?

Sunday, 12 October 2014 - 2:10pm IST Updated: Sunday, 12 October 2014 - 1:34pm IST | Place: Mumbai | Agency: DNA Webdesk

If you have already watched the trailer of Saif Ali Khan's latest film Happy Ending and are a fan of the Showtime television series Californication, you would notice a stark similarity between the two characters. Saif Ali Khan who plays a womanising writer in the film has seemingly noticeable resemblance to Hank Moody from the television series.

But at the trailer launch event when Saif was questioned about the same, our Nawab shrugged off all speculations. "I don't see the reason why you think that. We would have got a XXX and the film would not have run. There is only a tiny bit which might remind you of Hank Moody and the writers have also mentioned him a couple of times in the film. So maybe there's some kind of subtext somewhere. But Californication is cutting edge writing and concept which shows the actual reality of today. But here we have made Happy Ending universally palatable for the Indian audience", he said.

The film is rather a spoof on romantic comedies and going by the trailer, we can expect a hilarious ride with this one. Happy Ending stars Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D' Cruz, Kalki Koechlin, Govinda and Ranveer Shorey.

New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan's first look of much awaited Happy Ending' is out and it looks like a sure treat for his fans. The actor seems back in his nerd and quirky avatar.

After carving a serious and dramatic persona in films like Race 2, Kurbaan, Agent Vinod and Omkara, Saif appears completely colourful and happy in Happy Ending.'

For the ones who were craving to see the actor drooling into his Hum Tum or Salaam Namaste characters once again, Happy Ending looks perfectly apt. Saif Ali Khan who will be seen as Yudi in the film plays a Hollywood writer.

Happy Ending also stars Govinda, Ileana D'Cruz, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey in other pivotal roles. Even actresses Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor Khan have also done cameo in the film.

Govinda in Happy Ending

In the first look, Saif is seen making a cinematic frame sign with his hands while a peppy grin runs on his face.

Wearing distressed denims and sporting a funky hairdo as in films like Kal Ho Na Ho and Hum Tum, Saif seems every inch defining his character.

The film takes a light take on friendship, relationships, romance, struggle, marriage, plagiarism and finally discovers Happy Endings.'

Happy Ending is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. and produced by Illuminati Films.

Govinda's punches and dialogue delivery in Happy Ending trailer is just what's lacking in today's comedies, that way of talking man! Brilliance. 😆

I've watched the trailer like 10 times, i hope the movie is really good. Raj and DK are such promising directors.

  • Saif Ali Khan in a song from "Happy Ending." The film opens Nov. 21

Mumbai: In a one-of-its-kind role, Saif Ali Khan will be seen in an interesting avatar in his own co-production, "Happy Ending."

Quirky director-duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., in their last film, "Go Goa Gone," had presented Saif Ali Khan as a Russian gangster " and this time they direct him in the role of a wannabe rockstar bum named Yogi.

Yogi spouts weird philosophy that's usually spot-on, and we don't know much else about him. The film is a contemporary take on love and love stories.

Another surprise in the film is Govinda, who is playing the role of a "single-screen" superstar Armaan, who goes to Hollywood to get a Hindi film script written in their (Hollywood) style.

Featuring Ileana D'Cruz, the film is presented by Eros International and produced by Khan with Dinesh Vijan for Illuminati Films and is set to release Nov. 21. The romantic comedy also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in a cameo and has music by Sachin-Jigar.

Saif Ali Khan's Wife Makes Cameo Appearance In New Movie, Happy Ending

After being out of the Bollywood scene for some time, we recently saw Kareena Kapoor rock the big screen in "Singham Returns." Now Saif Ali Khan's wife is receiving multiple movie offers, one which includes a cameo in her husband's film.

Khan was recently at the "Happy Ending" trailer launch where he poked some fun at his wife's absence from the event. The actor was asked why his wife, who makes a cameo appearance in the film, didn't attend the event and he could only come up with a witty comeback.

"Kareena doesn't come for films she has less than a scene in!" joked Khan before adding, "we have a party tonight so she probably might be getting ready for it." 🤣

han will be seen playing the role of a Hollywood writer who is made to write a Bollywood script in his next film.

There have been reports that Kapoor might replace Kajol in Ram Madhvani's upcoming film, which is an adaptation of Dutch TV series "Penoza."

Kajol was allegedly suppose to play a single mother living in a joint family in Delhi, but she demanded a high price and the deal fell through. The director reportedly approached Kapoor, who liked the basic premise and is now reading the script.

In the mean time, Kapoor is going to start shooting for "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" with Salman Khan in the exotic snowy valley, Kashmir.

The film, which is expected to hit floors in the last week of October, revolves around a Muslim guy and a Brahmin girl and is Kabir Khan's first attempt to make a massy film. The cast and crew of the film plans to have a month-long schedule in Kashmir.

Despite shutting down Madhvani's film, it looks like we will get to see Bollywood's favorite jodis, Kajol and Shahrukh Khan, on the big screen soon.

Director Rohit Shetty reportedly signed Kajol, who has yet to make her come back in the Bollywood industry, in August and was finalized for the film. Shetty has already begun working on the film, which will hit the floors in 2015, and is currently writing the final script.

This will be the second time that SRK will be working with Shetty after their successful hit with "Chennai Express."

Khan allegedly might be seen reprising an 80s look in the film and while reports suggest that Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor might also be roped in to play the younger siblings of Khan, nothing has been confirmed.
