The whole world appreciated it for his efforts. and here is the guy who cares about decorum and wants an actor to behave in real life what he is going to play in reel life.😆
In effect, he wants Ranveer and perhaps all other actors to follow his rules on how to live life 😆 and what to do and what not to do
An Open Letter To Ranveer Singh
Dear Ranveer,
I was somewhat taken aback to see you prancing on a busy road of Mumbai in Hrithik Roshan's Krisshoutfit and mask.
It was a sight straight out of the Roadies show where the bully judge commands a potential contestant to go out there and...well, just make a fool of himself.
Onlookers didn't seem surprised or amused by your antics. They've come to expect this kind of behaviour from you. But to those of us who are looking forward to seeing you play the great Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao, this kind of behaviour seems a little out of character.
Not that you need to remain in character for as long as you are enacting Bajirao's life for the camera. But actors all over the world follow a certain protocol of decorum when they play known and respect real-life character. It's known as social responsibility which any celebrity from any walk of life must observe.
When Dilip Kumar played Prince Salim in Mughal-e-Azam you wouldn't have caught him on candid camera singing Awaara hoon in a tramp's turned-up trousers just for fun because his colleague Raj dared him to.
Not that the great Thespian lived in his brocaded splendour for 9 years while he lived the Emperor's part. But he knew he had to remain within the boundaries of the huge creative historical and moral responsibility that Prince Salim's role role has bestowed on him Ben Kingsley when he played Gandhijiwent many steps further. He actually lived, sat, walked, ate and interacted with people around him like the Mahatma did.
Nearer in time , you wouldn't have seen Farhan Akhtar running around on the streets in Milkha Singh's shorts to win a dare.
Isn't is daring enough to try to recreate an iconized real-life character from an era gone-by? So why take on such tawdry dares for the sake of a film that believes the word bang' if repeated twice could shake up the boxoffice?
Some weeks ago I saw you selling some Chinese consumer good disguised as Ranveer Ching.'
To my horror and shock I got to know that the trashy pseudo-trendy lyrics for the song were written by none other than the mighty Gulzar Saab.
We can't really blame you for your frivolous fun' escapades when senior artistes with a formidable reputation are doing the same.If Bajirao were alive today he too would be confused by the vandalism and desecration of true heroism in life and art.
Hoping for some restraint for Bajirao's sake.
Sincerely, Subhash K Jha
