Mardaani is not for everybody, says Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan
Rani Mukerji has applied for her film Mardaani's re-certification. The film was cleared with an A' certificate because of the use of violence and abusive language. The censor board also had problems with a particular scene in the film. They said that the makers would have to remove or tone it down for a U/A certificate but the team did not budge.
Rani's good friend Aamir Khan, who has seen the film, feels that it is not suitable for a U' certificate. He said, "There are certain words in the film that I wouldn't want my children to hear. There's violence too. So, if I want to use that kind of content, then I will ensure that the film is appropriately certified and advertised as an adult film." Aamir clarified that he has got nothing against good friend Rani.

Pretentious much , Aamir?. If you can host a show on Child Sex Abuse and air it on prime time than why turn this movie down? Both are raising important questions and raising awareness. Sensitive yes but necessary too.

Mardani maybe a bit violent or the language at times can be crass, yet the message is super powerful and needs to be heard, seen and understood by every age-group. Especially considering the increase in crime , more so for juvenile cases. If children can watch a crime-based serials , listen to regressive songs than where is the harm in watching this move which might make them aware of a topic which incidentally revolves around them too?

Quit monopolizing the moral compass for the entire Bollywood.

Should be careful of the kind of violence we are exposing our kids to: Aamir

Mumbai: Aamir Khan has praised Rani Mukerji's latest release Mardaani, but says that the film has violence and children shouldn't be exposed to such things.

The censor board awarded a A-certificate to Mardaani, which focuses on child trafficking. But Rani is trying to re-certify the film so that children above 12 years of age can view it.

When asked about the same, Aamir said: "There are some words in the film that I would not want my children to see. I also feel that very small children should not see this kind of violence. I don't want an eight-year-old child to see that. That's what I think."

"I know Rani may have a different opinion. She is a close friend of mine and I respect her, but I feel the film does have a certain amount of violence," he said.

Aamir feels that "we have become insensitive towards our children that we show them almost anything."

"Sometimes absurd things are shown in U and U/A (certified) films... I think we have to be much more careful with the kind of violence we are exposing our children to. I have a certain responsibility towards what I am showing to my children. I have to fulfill my responsibility," said the father of three.

The censor board has also restrained the makers from using the word "virginity" in the film, and Aamir said that he cannot comment on the issue without checking the guidelines.

"There are certain words that I don't like my children to hear, which is why I would be sensitive to other people's children as well. In case I want to use such words, I will make sure that it's properly advertised as an adult film," said Aamir who made "Delhi Belly" and promoted it as an adult comedy.

"There should be freedom of speech, and we are old enough to decide whether we want to see or not... we don't need to censor it from them (adults)."

He's actually saying censor board should give HNY adult certificate for that "Mother... Chhod na, Yaar" dialogue.

Gotta give him credit for his marketing gimmick. He got PK out in Dec. which probably has a social message , so got SMJ's third season around the same time. Would be on tv and news channels. Selling social responsibility, Aamir style.

Funny how he skirts away from commenting on "virginity" being censored, it's like how he reacted on Sanju's payroll saga.

I'm a big fan of aamir but come on he's being a hypocrite right now, isn't he always talking about we should educate children and make them aware of what's going on in the world... kids are exposed to everything these days, from po*n to music videos that use women as props🤢 so why shouldn't they watch a film like mardaani, with a powerful female lead who shows that women and girls are strong... but at the same time taken advantage of? 😳
if one child can live it then it's not too early for another one to watch it!

I'm sorry but I'm in full agreement with him on this. I'm a grown ass 20 year old female and I myself found the content in the trailer of this film incredibly disturbing. Especially those horrifying rape scenes. He's absolutely right, this film is meant for adults and I'd be horrified to know any parent showing this film to their young child.
