yeah Kick released a few days before eid. But its first day collections were less or on par withh EV (I think). If it was released on eid day, collections would have been MUCH higher.

Holidays do make difference but the fact is khans are superior. They are at top. Release their movie on holiday or non holiday, the movie would had been a BB either way. Every movie needs good songs. Or at least one popular song to be a success. As far as heroines are concern then Salman just give a ATBB with jacky who's not a A lister but heroine needs to look like a heroine.

Jai ho would had never done kick ETT or even dabbang 2 kinda business even if it would had release on eid. Salman starpower made that movie a success, put any other actor, I am sure jai ho would had been a flop

IMO it definitely would make a huge difference. Take Don2, it made 106 crore in India, it was a non-holiday release. And then you have CE which made more than double that.

I live in Canada and over here majority are fans of SRK...SRK is the face of Bollywood here, and many strongly believe that he is the King. I have many non-Indian friends (Caucasians, Arabs, Persians, Afghans, Africans) and the only Bollywood movies they watch are SRK's classics (DDLJ, KKHH, MHN, Devdas, etc). They also keep up with SRK's latest movies, though they prefer his old movies.

yeah that's true. I'm from the U.K, a lot of people who aren't into bollywood do know who srk is.

Kick released pre eid and no the opening wasn't par with EV. It made 26 crs. Opening weekend was 80 plus where ajay struggle to give 80 cr weekend with three back to back holidays. Kick released on Ramadan still it had great opening weekend.

. I meant opening day not weekend. What has the genre got to do with it? Both films starred srk, one was holiday release, other non-holiday. And BO collections between the two are huge. Don is a franchise, it would have raked in loads of money had it released on holiday. Its a hit franchise. It had PC, a popular mainstream actress. The prequel was superhit, a huge success. These factors are what meets a record breaking BO criteria.

Kick opening day 26

Ek villian got 15-16 (but was based not on star power but product as songs hugely popular and the theme ok but no where near kick !!

Holiday can give you a good opening but later it's the product wom the star that matter

The kapoor lad Game on a holiday with besharam it got 18 opening but tanked then so? Sr ajay got 30 or 32 holiday still lower to salmans ETT which was pre eid and got 31 -33 that two years ago !!



My point small budget movies aren't sold at high prices to distributors and when they invest they want to recover there money and expect big stars to release on major holidays.. Smaller actors whose movies less budget dont need to recover much hence don't need a holiday !! And still can do well it's about supply and demand!!

Genre makes difference. Masala genre obviously brings more money. You're right maybe Srk was going through low phase but even if CE would had released on non holiday, it would still had made around 180. Yeah holidays do make difference but not that much. Difference between don 2 and CE is too much. Don 2 was a horrible movie. CE was better

don 2 was good! I really enjoyed it. ( but even if CE would had released on non holiday, it would still had made around 180) So finally your agreeing holidays make a huge impact.
