There's really no argument here. Ajay isn't much of a star without Shetty.

I ain't denying as Rohit has played a bigger role for Ajay. But u ain't getting my point. Ajay has such a long career, he isn't big as Khans, but he is stable for long time.

Rohit has done 10 films so far including SR, out of which 9 are Ajay's films, 2 films Zameen / Sunday aren't clean hits, rest 7 are. 1 with Srk BB 200 cr film.

Now if Rohit gives BB Big hit same kind of success with Non-Khan any other star, or even new debut star, then he is a brand who can make BB on his own.

Ajay's last 10 years hits - SOS, OUATIM, DTBHJ, RAAJNEETI, ATHITHI, KAAL, KHAKEE - 2004-2013.

He comes next to khans now i will say. If SOS would have landed today with this setup, it would have same kind of opening. Big Screens, Big Holiday, right film Ajay can score big without Rohit.

Except the ones I mentioned OUATIM, SOS & Rajneeti, none are hits. DTBHJ is below average, the rest are average.

He has a pretty bad record without Shetty. More like terrible. Even with this 30 Cr, he's behind Hrithik, Akshay & Ranbir.

Verdicts of those films might have been changed in BOI (Like Others), but all those films were pretty much impressive then his rest of the films being flop badly. If u check articles on those films in other sites, they r pretty much success.

30 Cr opening will put him along Khans who have given it even on Non-Holidays or Ramzaan. I am sure, he will be raised above Akki, Hrithik, Ranbir with this just 1 film & if lifetime crosses RR, K3, YJHD in BOI, then he is comfortably above them.

Devgan has always been known as an actor, not a superstar and this won't change that. i admire the man's work, well previous work anyways, but he has a hit ratio of 14%. Akshay is twice that for reference.
