This is such a sensitive issue..SLB needs to be careful what he says. He sounds rude and defensive when he says a North Indian actress can't give you a boxoffice hit. These days content matters a lot..if Mary Kom gets good reviews...it could be a hit with a North Indian actress...who knows.

While I don't have an issue with PC playing Mary Kom..I do understand why some ppl find issues with it. The article did make some valid points.

Unlike cricket, boxing is relatively unfamiliar sports in India. MaryKom's story could be inspiring to many women in India irrespective of who plays the role. Idea should be to reinvent the ways women are currently portrayed in Indian cinema. I think makers of the movie has done a commendable job in showcasing a female sportsperson here. Unnecessary trivia over who could have been more authentic for the role simply undermines the effort of experimental movies!

To me PC looks great in the role and TM ur new user ID is bang on considering ur efforts on PC 😳

I might be wrong but I remember reading somewhere that Mary Kom wanted Priyanka to play her in the movie. Can anyone confirm this?

I heard she didn't have any problems with PC playing her not sure about Mary Kom herself wanting PC to play her. Her fans probably know more than me.

A friend pointed out another reason why casting of Mary Kom may be problematic. Mary Kom is a very petite women. PC is much taller and is a much fuller woman. What is impressive about Mary Kom is that such a small person is so physically fit, strong and determinate. She broke stereotypes that even petite women can be tough as nails. She faced opponents taller and more imposing without fear. So picking PC waters down the significant impact Mary Kom had in the sports world. Just a thought which I found valid.

I think PC is the best person who could play MK and the trailers shows that. I'm sure the movie will prove that. It's the portrayal/acting that counts more than the image.
