HAHK is not my most fav movie but it was defo a very beautiful movie, I can watch hahk anytime. It brings smile on my face. Songs were really good too esp didi Tera deewar, mujse jodha hokar, pehka pyaar hai, lo chali mein. I love these songs.
It was a really beautiful movie. Those innocence, romance, simplicity is rare now.

Salman Madz Jodi was never my fav but they were perfect as Prem Nisha.

Nice, but I want to hear more from Sooraj. He's influenced so many directors from Kjo to Aditya, I can't believe he directed MPK at 20 😲

HAHK is a game changer, trendsetter, classic in every way.
A breath of fresh air with its happy vibe, family values, traditional charm.

I was too young back then when it released but have vague memories of its songs playing everywhere. And Madhuri's posters from that film at every beauty parlour.

Till date serials and films copy stuff from HAHK be it those traditions, that pass the parcel game, boy or girl run carelessly bump into each other, colours/paints fly..., big joint families, ceremonies. Boy playing some musical instrument that woos the girl.

A clean, family friendly film (especially then). Mischief is there but only innocent. Never crude.

All about loving bonds and thinking of each other's happiness. Colour, fun, frolic of both middle class and wealthy Indian families.

Chopras, Johars and other totally copied Barjatya formula of MPK and HAHK, just giving them more mod and NRI twist.

Barjatya was the only clean filmmaker of his time.

Everyone is memorable in it. Including Tuffy the dog.😊

There are many songs but all are hits. Except that bidaai song I think.

This film made even those indifferent to Salman and Madhuri, like them a lot. It earned them respect.
All character actors became famous in films and TV. Good that Renuka Shahane was cast as Madhuri's sister. She too was known for her smile on TV.

Barjatya always keeps some characters from other religions as best friends of families like the doctor couple in this one. It showcases diversity and adds to the Great Indian Dream.
He always shows some fun scene with colleagues/employees at work also. Work or home, everywhere everyone is happy. 😆 Too good to be true but something everyone does dream of.

HAHK is on TV every weekend. On list of favorites for most people from that era.

Girls in our school used to sing and dance to HAHK songs even years after its release.

Rajesh and Prem are true ideal boys. Educated, handsome, well mannered, cultured. Solid bonding with family.

Prem is a dream. Handsome, dutiful, respectful, mischievous, childlike innocence, fun, educated, devoted to family, sensitive, caring, sacrificing. No pretense, genuine.

HAHK and HSSH are the only films where I like Mohnish Behl!

That said I didn't like everybody assuming and singing for birth of male child only when Renuka's character gets pregnant. Barjatya keeps women in kitchen or ceremonies only no matter what they have studied. Gender stereotypes galore. But then other films are no better in this aspect.

Barjatya is underrated. Never hailed as much as those who copied him.

One of the rare films whose anniversary deserves to be commemorated for the sheer impact it made.

indeed a rare movie, indeed the game changer of its time. the best part...here was a movie which was constantly criticized for not having a script..hahaaa...imo thats the best part...even without a script the movie soared to new heights. hahahaha..even without a script movie still sits comfortably as one of the best ever to come from bollywood.
i remember killing the remote button with the opening track: hum aapke hain kaun...i don't know which genius came up with bhai and mads as black and white. GORGEOUS!
