What is screen presence?

On IF, screen presence seems to be the most commonly touted reason as to why an actor or actress failed to make it in Bollywood, despite acting well, looking good, etc.

Sanjay Dutt in Vaastav is SCREEN PRESENCE - ONE OF THE BEST IN THE HISTORY OF HINDI CINEMA- WON FILMFARE

SRK in Baazigar is SCREEN PRESENCE - WON FILMFARE

Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar or DON is SCREEN PRESENCE - WON FILMFARE

Salman Khan in Dabangg or Ek tha tiger is SCREEN PRESENCE. -- WON HEARTS

Sunny Deol in Ghayal and Damini is SCREEN PRESENCE-- WON FILMFARE AND NATIONAL

For me, when a character overshadows everything else in a movie frame, that's his/her Screen Presence! Because of Screen presence, a normal movie might attain a cult status.
Prime example again is Vaastav. No sanjay dutt and it's a very general movie. Add Sanjay Dutt and you feel what a movie! 😃

You can not define it precisely. But for me screen presence means that actor lights up the screen when he or she appears, as a viewer your eyes only notice him/her. His or her presence should command attention even if he or she says or does nothing. It has nothing to do with looks as much as it has to do with confidence and aura. You can "feel" Rajinikanth is a hero even if he is not flying in air to kick a villain.

Salman Khan is screen presence at the moment in films n in BO 😆

Being there while not actually being there. People concentrated more on the holes than Salman when he was saying, "Itna ched karunga ke conphyused ho jaoge ke saanse kahan se le, aur ****e kahan se de" in Dabangg. That's call screen presence. The holes blurred Bhai.
