How is Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' different from other Kabir Khan films?
But what sets Bajrangi Bhaijaan apart from all other films is that BB is neither an out and out Salman Khan film or an unabashed Kabir Khan flick. Why? Well here's the inside scoop. "Bajrangi Bhaijaan is about this young helpful guy Bajrangi who meets a young Pakistani kid who loses her way and lands up on the other side of the border. It's Bajrangi who takes up the mission to take her back home and that's how the story unfolds", a source revealed.
The plot, although has its own share of a patriotic and political angle, is essentially a relationship story, revealed BB's heroine Kareena Kapoor at a press conference. "BajrangiBhaijaan is not topical or political in any way", the actress continues, "Relationships hold the key for BB", Bebo added.
Now that's unlikely for any Kabir Khan film, given his history of making some socially relevant socio-political dramas, adding that hint of a thriller in it. "Kabir has previously done socio-political dramas which dealt a lot with corruption and politics. Whether it'sKabul Express or New York or Ek Tha Tiger, Kabir always took up the political scenario seriously. Even in his next film, Phantom, there is a hint of a global terrorism and a political war scenario involved. But Bajrangi is altogether very different", claims a source from the production.
But does that mean that Bajrangi Bhaijaan will not have any political angle at all? "Not that's not the case but unlike Kabir's other hard hitting films that clued on headlines, BB will deal with the issue more subtly. More than the politics, the relationships angle will take precedence. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play a shrewd, manipulative Pakistani politician in the film but that's just one end of the film. It does beautifully address the issue of the Indo-Pak relationship in the film and is more patriotic than political", added the source.
Now that's not an out and out Kabir Khan flick. Right? Does it mean that Kabir has given in to put in Salman's commercial star power and added more masala? "No, it's strange but it's unlike other Salman films as well. For the longest time, people have seen Salman doing all the dhishoom-dhishoom and the commercial blockbusters. BB is also a hugely commercial film but it is not mindless action", the source confided.
