Alright. Someone questioned by fandom for Rani in a recent thread made on Aishwarya. So I'm clearing this mess up for once and for all.
Aishwarya and Rani are both actresses. Therefore, the most important thing for me is acting abilities when I chose whom to be a fan of. Rani was never my numero uno actress. Karisma was. But then after seeing more of her films, my fandom began for Rani. Rani's graph continued to grow. She continued to grow as an actress. She was versatile and despite not all her films doing well, she performed well in those films. I became a die hard fan. Turning to Aishwarya, I enjoyed a lot of her 90s films. She acted well. After that she went downhill in terms of acting. I found her really fake in a lot of her roles and didn't feel she was natural at it.
Acting abilities: Rani won hands down.
Coming to personalities. I don't think any actor or actress can have a sweet, charming, positive personality off screen. Their life is full of ups and downs, struggles, obstacles, criticizers, obsessive fans, obsessive haters etc. Therefore even personalities of these stars change from situation to situation. In Rani's earlier days she had a very sweet personality factor. Though I've never met her in person, many of my close friends have. And they all had positive things to say about her. Not the same case for Aish. Aish really let stardom get to her head. In terms of popularity worldwide, she's the more known one compared to Rani. And that's what hurt Aish the most. Don't get me wrong, Rani doesn't have the sweetest personality ever. Through the years even her personality has changed, for the worse. But it's Aish who's let stardom hit her hard and more-so because of her international fame. (Not blaming Aish for that, but it is what it is.)
Personality: Rani wins this one for me as well.
Aishwarya is considered to be the face of India in terms of the most beautiful woman. But who says that you must be fair skinned, perfect body, etc to be beautiful? Make up does wonders on everyone. Aishwarya may be pretty, but her looks are highly overrated. Whereas Rani's looks are highly underrated. She's been termed as a maid, kaamwali, etc. I think Rani is a gorgeous Bengali beauty provided that without the touch of makeup she's very dark skinned. Her eyes speak volumes. And to be despite her not having that perfect body, she carries herself really well most of the time.
Looks: Rani takes the cake easily, in my opinion.
Tying back to the previous statement about looks, sometimes Aishwarya's beauty does look fake. I've never discredited her as being 'ugly'. That's too harsh for me to say about someone whom I don't know. But the overdose of make-up and just her entire look on most occasions looks to be fake and overdone. For Rani I don't find that to be the case. She's natural in her looks. And maybe because of how natural she is, not many people have positive things to say about her when she's without make up.
I've haven't seen Rani claiming to be the best actress in the world before. In her earlier interviews, I haven't seen any arrogance from her. (She's def changed in the last few years). But I can't say the same about Aishwarya. I've come upon a lot of shows in which Aish shows a lot of arrogance and she demands attention to be on her because of her name, fame, stardom, money, power, and now family. I'm not claiming Rani to be any saint. She has her time too. And of late she's changed. But on an overall graph, Rani hasn't acted like that.
Stardom hits everyone at some point which is why arrogance comes into play. It's happened to the best of actors, both Rani and Aishwarya included. But some stars let it get to them more than others and in this case Aishwarya is that star.
Lastly, Rani haters/bashers need to stop blaming Rani for the fallout between the two. I don't think any one of us were on scene when this happened. If anyone is to blame, then blame EVERYONE involved. The weight doesn't lie on one person. If Rani is a back-stabber, Aishwarya is no saint. If they were friends why wasn't she happy for her friend? It's not like both their careers depended on one movie. And Rani was approached by SRK himself. She didn't just jump in and say hey can I take up the role now. But that's a whole other issue on its own.
I'm going to end this by saying that these are all solely my opinions and I don't demand anyone to agree with me. I respect others opinions and I simply demand the same. I'm not claiming anything listed above to be a fact. Solely my opinion on why I like Rani better. I don't think anyone has the right to question my likes or dislikes on an actor or actress. Everyone is their own individual, they have their own view, their have their own favorites. If we all liked and disliked the same people there would be no fun to it. I can't possibly HATE these stars especially since I don't know them on a personal level. But I can certainly have my views. Posting a negative comment doesn't always imply in bashing.
That is all.
On a side note, I thank Hetal being an Aish fan for always writing in such a manner not to offend me, being a Rani fan. She knows how to state opinions in a civil manner without attacking. Thank you love. I'm so glad we're close, despite our differences.
