So his GF accused him of rape 'cos he didn't wanna marry her? I'd wait for the truth to come out before bashing him. There have been cases of GFs and live in partners misusing law for personal vendetta.

It's still not rape. That would be very wrongful to accuse a man of rape. When sex is forced it is rape. The above would be deceit. Yes, he can be tried for deceit if there are provisions in law for that.

Ultimately the girls should be responsible. If you want sex before marriage, then you should be ready for any kind of risk- pregnancy, the guy leaving you etc. If you don't want to take those risks, then simply abstain until marriage. There's no point in crying foul for your foolishness. It's not the end of the world. move on to the next guy.

Exactly...The Indian law is favorable to women in general...and a lot of times...the highly educated and slick women take advantage of that...I have heard lots of cases where the women file a false dowry charges just to get back at their in-laws...These women do so much injustice to the actual rape victims and dowry victims...who ever is at fault here needs to be severely punished.

There was a time when promising marriage for sex and not following through did fall under rape in India. Sometime in the 2000s judges started not branding these as rape, and in court would be sympathetic to the girls but would ask that they not be so naive.

I think officially it may still fall under rape, but judges will not count it as rape.
