Deepika is an Indian citizen through either of the two moldes - jus soli or jus sanguinis I.e. either being born on the Indian soil OR having parenas who are citizens of India (blood relation). The Indian Constitution recognises these forms of citizenship, in addition to acquired forms of citizenship.
Somehow, she might have not got her name registered - as a result of which she has not been granted a Voter's Identity.
One can register as a voter even without a passport.
Am sire she has voted in Bengaluru where she could be registered in all likelihood - the articles and posts are confounding though. 😆
Indian constitution does not allows people to be dual-citizens. Hence, if she has not given up on her Denmark passport, there is no way that she would have gotten an Indian passport (hence, the citizenship) irrespective of her ancestry.
Children of Indian citizens are eligible to become Overseas Citizens of Indian (i.e get an OCI visa) or Persons of Indian Origin (i.e. get a PIO passport). Either way, they can live and work in India but are NOT allowed to vote.
