Who says Deepika doesn't have an Indian passport?

Actress Deepika Padukone on Thursday (April 10) said that she hopes that promises made by politicians are fulfilled this time. "I do feel we need a change (in the political system).

I think it is the sentiment that most people feel. There are promises being made. I hope more youth will vote. I hope all the promises made will be lived upto. There are many issues and things that need to be addressed, but I don't want to get into them," Deepika Padukone said at the Van Heusen event in Mumbai.

When she was asked if BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi could bring about "change", Deepika chose not to answer the question.

The actress was born in Copenhagen in Denmark and her family relocated to Bangalore when she was an year-old.

"I am an Indian. I was born in Denmark, but I hold an Indian passport. I am an Indian citizen and I am proud to be Indian," Deepika said.

While a lot of Bollywood celebrities stepped out to cast their vote for the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai on Thursday, there were many who were missing. They preferred attending IIFA in the US over voting.

The list of the celebs who didn't make it to the polling booths on Thursday is long.

Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Divya Dutta, Boman Irani left for US a day before to attend the IIFA weekend at Tampa Bay, Florida.
Earlier, we spotted the likes of Malaika Arora, Yami Gautam, Kalki Koechlin, Riteish Deshmukh and Arunoday Singh headed for the US.

Even Sonakshi Sinha, whose father Shatrughan Sinha is contesting as a BJP candidate, left for the US two days before. Also missing in Mumbai are the likes of Shahid Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Priyanka Chopra.
True that the timing of IIFA has clashed with the polling day in Mumbai, putting many a celebs in a quandary. But there have been the likes of Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor who've chosen voting over IIFA. A lot of celebs, we hear, will leave for IIFA after casting their vote.

DP must have voted in Bangalore which apparently was the 17th of April.

IIFA Dates were fixed long before elections date were out...
