Overseas Top Five Weekends 2014 - 2 States Second

2 States had the second biggest opening overseas in 2014 behind Jai Ho. The film was excellent in North America but did under perform in The Gulf and UK was as usual. The film should run up a good totalin North America. The five top overseas opening weekend grossers this years are as follows.

1. Jai Ho - $3,500,000

2. 2 States - $2,800,000

3. Gunday -$2,100,000

4. Shaadi Ke Side Effects - $1,700,000

5. Hasee Toh Phasee - $1,050,000

2 States Holds Steady On Monday

2 States held up well on Monday for a solid total in the 5.75-6 crore nett range. Although the drop is around 50% from Friday it is still good as Friday was a holiday and was probably boosted around 2 crore nett.

The four day total is around 43 crore nett and the week should finish in the 55-57 crore nett range depending on how the next few days behave. The film is doing its best business in Mumbai and South as these areas had good numbers on Monday.

West Bengal also held strong on Monday dropping just 40% from Friday. The underperformance has come in North India especially East Punjab and UP. Delhi city is decent but could have been better going by numbers in other metros.

Just watched it now!

The Supporting Cast..👏👏👏👏

Ronit Roy was wonderful, especially towards the end. He's an example of someone who does not need an extensive role to make a powerful impact.

Amrita.. quite impressed by her in this role.. nailed the "typical" Punjabi mother. (Was laughing with my mother who happens to be Punjabi at the similarities 😆) Revathi and the actor that played Ananya's father stood out well amongst the batch of well established actors.

As for the two leads, Alia was a pleasant surprise, although I wish her role was more extensive.. she was expressive and she owns her role well.

Arjun.. what can I say. After Ranveer Singh, he's becoming a second close favorite in terms of actual acting. Krish's character is a super dull yet intriguing character in my opinion, all while making him realistic. I think it takes patience in an actor to portray such a resilient character. I thorughly enjoyed the silent rift between him and his father.

It also pays off that Arjun and Alia are cute together, regardless of your personal opinions of the actors, it's difficult to deny they have good screen dynamics together.

Mostly, I liked how non-filmi the movie was, the dialogues (most of them) were as if they were being used by everyday people. Although, I wish they strayed away from the whole background dancers, at unnecessary times, but then again it is a Bollywood movie.

UGHHH! Whoever decided at the editing table to delete these scenes from the movie, I hate him/her!😡 And they haven't stopped using those good scenes from the book to promote the film but not include in the film!😡

I just saw the movie today...I loved it! 😳

Am still in the awe of the movie..the book was lovely...but the movie is better!

It was one good, refreshing Rom-Com.

The best part was that they used some really good scenes from the book, it made it more relate-able. The scene in the beginning, rosgulla one, when she orders chicken tandoori and beer, their economic tuition in Ananya's hostel, some scenes where they both are trying to convince each other's parent... that inter caste mix! 😆 Very entertaining, sweet, simple movie.

The college romance wasn't even that OTT...but are guys allowed in a Girls hostel and vice versa? I doubt.

I really liked Arjun in the scene where they were drinking tea after they had their first Kiss. His expression 😆

Everyone is praising Alia, yes she deserved it all, absolutely Brilliant. But Arjun was no less 😎 Every time the loud one is not the better one. He played his character very well 👏 He was extremely adorable in so many scenes... no one could play Krish Malhotra better than him. What a lovable boyfriend ❤️ That pain inside him, the silent one in the beginning, his love for Ananya, that family pressure, Aggression and everything. He is a good actor I must say.

But this movie was about the whole cast, Amrita was Amazing, Ronit and Ananya's Mom all were brilliant. Can't give the credit the to any one or two people. This movie deserves all the praises they are getting, even the BO collections. Want to see it again.

Alia is extremely pretty...no offense but she never looked like a Tamilian in the first half 😆

But why is her command in Hindi so poor? She was brought up here...isn't it?

My favorite songs are Locha-e-ulfat, Mast magan, Chandaaniya.

Everyone should watch this movie! 👍🏼

They showed Hero Panti and Filmistaan's trailer. This Chikni Chameli Shroff should pack his bags and leave ASAP. Heropanti karega? Kya karoon? Sabko aati nahi, meri jaati nahi 🤣

Disgusting! Its definitely a Flop. Filmistaan looks really funny...India India Dha Dha Dhaa 😆
