What's the worse thing is that the rapist, eve teasers and molester's family support them. I can relate a incidence with me during holi 2 years back. A teenage boy aged 15 delebrately threw a water balloon on me delebrately to enjoy the scene. 😡When I complained along with my neighbours( families of girls who were also targeted)his family said that he is just a boy and it was our fault.His family is actually teaching him to disrespect women and I feel this boy may turn to a future molester🤬.

it is totally sad, how can their parents say they are kids.. Even Yadav said they make mistakes... Is that a mistake ? 😡

Which India are you talking about? Please do check section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. The minimum punishment is 7 years for a rape.

As far as I know, the new law has been made and implemented.

I believe you need to check. That came into force last year.

Actors Vidya Balan and Dia Mirza have reacted strongly to Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's remark that the death penalty in rape cases is "unfair" as "young boys make such mistakes".

National Award-winning actress Vidya has said that rape should never be pardoned.

"Capital punishment is a very contentious issue but it is the worst of crimes that should not be pardoned. I completely disagree with anyone who says that 'boys will be boys, they will make mistakes'," Vidya said here Thursday at a fundraiser event by NGO Swades.

"Now this is sure that I will not give my vote to him (Yadav)," she added.

Mulayam Singh Yadav made the remark at a Lok Sabha election rally in Moradabad Thursday. He also said that if his party leads the government at the centre, he would change the law.

Actress-producer Dia Mirza finds the statement by the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister "appalling" and "saddening".

"When I hear comments like this, I don't know how to react as a woman, how to react as a human being. I think it is appalling and saddening that there are such people in our society, who have such small, such irrevocable thoughts," Dia said here.

"This statement reflects not just their lack of character, insenstivity but also lack of humanness. It is very sad," she added.

Of course...why hang them...?They should be awarded...They should be considered for Bharat ratna, and oh..public judges these people...poor them!! Their should be a "muawja" for them.

On a serious note...I'm hopeless. And btw rapists don't come from mars, they are being made in our families...and before generalizing it to a certain state, UP-bihar, or lower middle class...well one needs to read and understand more. This patriarchal culture is rooted everywhere. In our own families...and then there is marital rape which though isnt even rape in India, though it is far too common. What else one can expect when we do ahve a whole culture, society, media commodifying women? This will be the result of that...when people shout or raise voice against some songs, movies, literature..it's not because they are crazy...This is the result of such culture, because after objectification, they aren't real people, they are objects to fulfill men's desires.

No, the minimum still is 7 years.

Only if the rapist also inflicts an injury which causes the death of the person or causes the person to be in a persistent vegetative state, he shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a minimum of twenty years. This was the new amendment.

No, the minimum still is 7 years.
