David Dhawan is a great director and has given hits and flops. In bollywodd consistency is rare unlike hollywood where directors like Nolan, Quentin, Martin, etc can never make a bad movie.

I think Student of the year was semi-hit only because K-Jo was directing. Sid is one the most boring actor ever, Alia is meh and varun did okay. I don't think he has capacity to fill the seats. A lot will reply on word of mouth. If the word of mouth is good then people will go otherwise it will be below average the best.

I think it will do good! at least a semi hit...The movie has no competition for two weeks and it has quite a buzz.

There are two straight hit songs and the good looks of Varun. The problem lies in the selection of heroines-both are non crowd pullers. Only bright spot is if David Dhawan could pull of Chasme Badoor then surely he will pull MTH for his son. Perhaps it may just manage to be a hit because there is no other big release.

It could swing either way, it may either be a surprise hit (coz david's films often become hits, despite lack of quality) or will tank completely.

I love varun, but the promos :O

If this movie tanks, the promo has to take major blame. If the movie succeeds, it is despite the promo.

Its not that the promos are bad, its more the fact that the promos give a PPNH vibe which makes me feel that the film may not be good.

I wanted to clarify one thing: in my original post when I'm talking about the action scenes I'm referring more to the Desi action, not the type of action seen In films like Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3.

Main Tera Hero was below the mark on day one as it took an average opening but collections went down badly in the evening as India played in a very important cricket match. The film needed to open well to counteract the cricket like Ragini MMS 2 did.

The first day collections were around the 5-5.25 crore nett as per early estimates which is not that good but Saturday will tell how much the cricket dented the film.

The film has cost over 40 crore to promote and release so the growth will have to be huge on Saturday. Growth of 10% would have been expected if Friday was not affected by the cricket so now there will be potential for 30-40% growth but the problem will be Sunday as India has reached the Final and collections of Main Tera Hero will be hit hard again.

This is the third time that a release of Balaji Motion pictures has been hit by the cricket. First there was Shaadi ke Side Effects then Ragini MMS 2 and Now Main Tera Hero. Ragini MMs 2 withstood the cricket onslaught and now it remains to be seen if Main Tera Hero can do the same.
