He is a male chauvanist -- just like his portrayal of FIL in a flop movie Shakti or his role in famous Marathi play "Purush".

Clearly for him crime against a country is a crime but against a woman is not !

Could be merely supporting an industry outsider like himself.. Everyone knows that if same had happened to an industry kid, things would have been very different.

Also possible that Shiney is a broken man now and people like Nana and Naseer can see that and sympathise with him..

To add another reason, he was more like them - never part of mainstream cinema.. And we know how bitter Nana and Naseer have been about the difference in the way they themselves have been treated for that

His wife and him were married for some 20 years. I think if his wife HAS MANTAINED THAT HE IS INNOCENT TILL NOW and KNOWS he didn't do anything wrong than we are no one to judge or decide. I think her is just another case of a non-industry guy who was used and abused...whose career was DESTROYED.

HE WAS CONVICTED DESPITE THE FACT THAT HIS MAID RETRACTED HER STATEMENT LAST YEAR...HE WAS DECLARED GUILTY EVEN BEFORE THE TRIAL...That maid could have very well used him for some quick cash.

AND considering the evidence was NEGATIVE, I think it is safe to say he was framed.

I believe he is innocent and was framed for money. The maid went back on her word. The truth will be out one day.

Kudos to him for beginning his life again...it will be hard for him to get his career back.

People don't generally lie about being raped, in fact it is largely unreported, specially in countries like India, because of the stigma. Yet some people choose to believe that the girl was lying to make quick cash or whatever. It is really sad. Plus, correct me if I am wrong, but in this case didn't Shiney's neighbour spot the maid crying and looking like she had been attacked, which prompted her to ask questions. She was the one who took her to the police.

No. Actually...watch this...The neighbour did nothing of that sort, infact she flat denied any such thing.

WHY WOULD THE MAID RETRACT HER STATEMENT? WHY WAS HE CONVICTED WITHOUT A TRIAL? WHY WERE THE TEST RESULTS NEGATIVE???

Why would a happily married successful film star for some 20 years rape his maid...
