Like someone mentioned before, I think even YRF knew the movie wouldn't work. Like they hardly promoted the songs. I never saw a single dialogue promo of the film. Just like what UTV did with Ghanchakkar.

Ayushmaan is actually a good actor. He is in serious risk of getting stereotyped but he can definitely act better than some others of his generation IMHO.

Bewakoofiyaan (2014)

I was possessed by the Sonam Kapoor fan in me yesterday. Add to that the excruciating pain of waiting for Queen, and a good print of Bewakoofiyaan online, I sat down to watch this with zero expectations, following those snooze-inducing promos. The film looked extremely predictable and devoid of any fun - which took me by surprise as it was written by Habib Faisal and directed by Nupul Asthana who made the super fun Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge.

To cut a long story short, I enjoyed the film for most parts. Blame the lack of interest, but Bewakoofiyaan was actually pleasant. I had a smile all through the film. The story is apt had potential, but the makers opted for a lighter/comical route which worked fine too. However the writing lacked meat. The humour is subtle and the conflicts are genuine, but the film never really gets into its orgasmic mood. The climax is the big damper. It's too dull to make me give this a good rating.

The performances are all decent. I missed out on Ayushman's second movie so it was nice seeing him again. His performance is very good and he does attempt to showcase his range. Sonam looked slick and stunning. She pitches in a supremely confidence performance and shares good chemistry, both with Ayushman and Rishi. Speaking of whom, Papa Kapoor is fairly good. While he's used to much more demanding parts, Rishi does his best to tap into his comic timing. He's endearing. The music fails to connect, and the only track worth mentioning is Gulcharrey.

Despite dealing with a topic many people can relate to, it's hard to take Bewakoofiyaan seriously. First off, it's hard to understand how Mohit goes bankrupt. Granted he spent his money on a car, but in this day and age, a grown-up, who supposedly topped his MBA, knowing bullocks about having a savings account is ridiculous. Besides, the writer and director haven't made the most of this opportunity and resorted to the tried and tested formula (which borders on unrealistic) to culminate the story.

Yet, ironically the best part of Bewakoofiyaan is that it doesn't take itself seriously. It's been designed as a rom-com and it's barely 2 hours long. It's more watchable than the recent rom-coms like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and I also liked it better than Shaadi Ke Side Effects. Don't make it your priority, but if you have time and good internet connection, Bewakoofiyaan is harmless.

Sweet movie..It's good time pass..basically a Rishi Kapoor movie..Sonam has nothing to do in it and I am not craving for her wardrobe(except her pumps)-something that I do after watching any Sonam movie..the music is bad! I like Ayushmann so much more after watching the movie
My only grouse is-the title of the movie..I still can't figure out when did all the bewakoofiyan happen? is the break up stupid or getting back together?

Bewkoofiyaan Hs Dull Weekend

Bewakoofiyaan had a poor weekend grossing around 6.75 crore nett over its first weekend. The film started on a low note and the growth was limited over the weekend. The key for these type of multiplex films is Saturday business and here Saturday growth was very limited.

The film has the lowest opening weekend if we take into account the main multiplex releases over the last few weeks which are Hasee Toh Phasee, Highway, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Queen. The collections are better than Total Siyaapa but that film was almost a total washout.

There will not be much hope for the film over the weekdays, they could remain steady but with such a low weekend that tends to happen as there is a limit to the downside.
