She is back from a vacation in Mauritius with her husband Saif Ali Khan who was shooting in the scenic seaside country with director Sajid Khan for Humshakals.
Kareena has made another friend in Mauritius after she befriended Ileana d'Cruz.
Now Kareena and Genelia d'Souza became beachside girl pals in Mauritius.
"She is a really warm and affectionate girl. We were both there in Mauritius because our husbands were shooting together. Saif and Riteish Deshmukh get along really well. That really helps the wives to find a comfort zone," enthuses Kareena on Genelia.
There are never any half-measures for this screen queen. Either she is ultra-gregarious or not connecting with the outside world at all.
Right now Kareena's is on a serious role-hunting spree.
"I am not too kicked by the scripts that I am reading. I want to work with directors who have something new to offer.I am very keen to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali .We've come THIS close to working together a number of times. But now, I think we seriously need to get down to it," says Kareena who is no more interested in collecting offers just for the heck of it.
Holiday over now Kareena starts shooting for Rohit Shetty's Singham 2 .
"It's a very different from the first Singham film with much more space for the heroine. The first Singham film was a remake. The sequel in an absolute original. And I have a very strong part."
Kareena is not enamoured of decorative dimensions any more. "Do you think I'd do Singham 2 if I was didn't have much to do in the film? Rohit Shetty is very fond of me. The role is that of a very solid very independent-minded Maharashtrian girl. It's the kind of character that's real and relatable. I've done so many ultra-glamorous role. Now it's time to get more real."
Real, like Kangna's Queen? One of the many powerful parts that Kareena has lately turned down .
She brushes off any suggestion of occupying a role-space that belongs to others. "I think it's in very bad taste to leak out stories in the press about roles that one doesn't do. A role belongs to the actor who plays it, and no one else. Kangna is fabulous in Queen. I love the way she is selecting her parts. They are so out-of-the-box. So not expected."
Kareena says she is done with roles that take up the normal space. "I've done it all. I don't need to prove anything to anyone. I want to work only in films that have something unusual to offer.I also have commitments to my home. Saif and I are building our dream home.We want every detail in the house to be exactly the way we had planned it.We can't leave the project to designers."
Any regrets about Karan Malhotra's Shuddhi not working out?
Says Kareena, "Every film has its own destiny.I wish the project all the best. When it releases I'll be the first to buy a ticket to check it out."
