Then Bollywood wouldn't have obsession with reaching up for Academy Awards and try hard for it.

Here is my edition of nominations of whom really were appreciated. And this has nothing to do with Box Office. Coz in USA, Transformers, Avatar, Avengers, Iron Man, Harry Porter Series, Skyfall etc... are top grossing in films and mate they don't ever get considered for nominations forget about winning

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE

BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE

ALL ARE CLEARLY MY OPINION AND I HAVE JUDGED THEM ON THE CRITICAL ACCLAIM THEY GOT AND EVEN SAW THESE FILMS TO JUDGE THEM MYSELF

You can disagree with me here but please avoid it if you want to start a fanwar

Also note. I made this coz I clearly don't get the obsession Bollywood shows towards Oscars. When themselves they don't credit good work. Few days ago Jitesh Pillai was criticizing Oscars. Mate, look at what you throw at FIlmfare each then comment on outsiders.

Nominations and stuff aside, wht makes me sad is the quality of hosting and humor in bolly award shows as compared to the Academy awards...Bolly comes off looking so contrived in comparison...especially filmfare which prides itself by saying its the indian oscars...the last FF awards with priyanka and ranbir as hosts was an absolute disaster...

Not everyone can pull off as a good host. I hate when they take cheap shots at people to make others laugh. Flop films are often made fun of at Filmfare despite the fact it was a good film

One of the few classy thing filmfare did recently was SRK's Broadway themed performance for 100 years of Bolly

True that and also I think friendly vibes and respect/appreciation for fellow actors - is missing in BW awards ceremonies/most of BW actors...

I liked the nominations you have put up. I disagree with only one- best actress. I think pari in SDR was better than Sonam or DP. Regardless of the opinion about the film, pari's work was good in SDR. Maybe not outstanding like ishaqzaade, but still pari is far ahead if you look solely at the performance of the ladies. She is far more natural and her work doesn't shout 'look I'm acting'. Sonam and DP even in their best performances so far don't have that naturalness, especially with regards to dialogue delivery.

Btw, if you are going by critical acclaim only, I feel there are a lot of films which have been missed- we had a lot of small gems last year which did not get that much hype as they were from small PH. I guess picking nominations really is a daunting task, especially bcos everyone has different views on a film.

true very true...

even when they praise each other, it looks really fake in bolly award shows...more like a "yeah right " moment...plus, the actors in hollywood all said and done, are wayy more humble and down to earth than the ones in bolly who are so used to all the star worship they get that their feet are never on the ground...its always "I am so and so's son..." or "I am the king" or "I am the queen bee" attitude...
