I had huge expectations from RamLeela seeing it's trailers and SLB's movie.
From the trailers, Ranveer and DP's chemistry was on fire, but When I watched the movie, I was disappointed :( Their chemistry was just average, nothing HOT as how it seemed in trailers and in posters.

I liked DP's performance though after long time. She was good and so was Ranveer's.

What basically disconnected me from the movie was how Ram and Leela all of the sudden falls in love? It would've made sense to act so passionately towards each other had they been in love and all from before, but all of the sudden strangers acting like that just made me disconnected to feel anything for them?😕

And then the end, Their death didn't touch me at all like Lottera did. In fact, I thought Ranbir and DP will have such good chemistry and the film will be all touch the heart. But it was not. Just their performances were good and so were the other actors. While I expected Ranveer and Sona's chemistry to be average and the movie as well, but their chemistry was so so good and so was the movie. Weather performances, chemistry, the direction, story of Lootera, everything was epic. Ramleea is nothing in front of Lootera. <3 Lootera was full package .

Yea that's it. Unless you already like the actors, you cannot sympathize with their characters. It was handled in a very juvenile way. I don't fault the actors. SLB sucks at editing and execution. He should have handled the plot better. The love story was completely shoved down our throats, there was no building up at all. But in totality, He did the most injustice to Supriya Pathak's character IMO. Her transition wasn't carried out properly. If she hadn't given such a good performance, the movie would have become even more ridiculous.

I'm a huge DP fan but I jus couldn't connect with the character. As someone mentioned, there was no build up. It was more lust than love. Yea Baa's character was the best, she was fantastic. I'm a sucker for tragedy movies, I cry in almost every one. But here it was a different story. I was just left speechless and confused.

In the actual version Romeo's barely got out of a heartbreak, he claims he loves Rosaline and within the same day he falls in love with Juliet at first sight. The entire story spans over 4 days, here it spans from Holi to Dussera, I think their relationship should have been reflective of that.

That angle of signing a document to sanction killing when just about everything else in that society was illegal or immoral was just one piece of utter thoughtlessness in the script. I would have felt a bit more connect with the film if it was staged at a much earlier century. Showing a society where people kill people off like popping balloons in a carnival, selling guns like vegetables in a farmers market,no sign of law or justice but all other modern amenities and conveniences are present makes for a completely illogical storyline. I doubt this kind of scenario exists even in a failed state like Congo or Somalia.

@Bold: Excuse me if I am wrong (read R&J like 7 years ago so don't remember much) but that's how it was in Shakespeare's play, right? Lust at first sight instead of love at first sight between two hormonal teenagers? I was actually fine with the part where they just meet and boom they fall in lust rather than love. I know many saw that as a flaw because there was no character build up but I actually liked it because as far as I remember that's how it was in the actual play.

But what I didn't like/understand was Dhankor's nephew making Leela sign those papers that ordered the extermination of the Rajaadis. That was a senseless (for the lack of a better word) angle. I understand that they wanted to introduce a conflict which would somehow force R&L to commit suicide but I think they could have gone with a different and a better angle. Other than that, I found the movie entertaining even with its flaws.

P.S. I haven't seen Ishaqzaade so can't really compare the two versions of R&J. But I liked what I saw in RL.

I watched it on Sony again the film had way too many flaws. The biggest flaw is when as an audience I fail to feel anything for the characters.

I felt nothing for Ram or Leela or Dhankor Ba or Rasila Bhabhi. All of them were half baked.

The worst scene was the ending It was supposed to make audience cry or atleast feel bad for Ram and Leela but me and my friends laughed the ending was stupid. SLB could have redeemed the film by giving a sad but different ending.

SLB's direction didn't match my expecations. Direction and editing was extremely and i mean EXTREMELY poor. He made this licence to murder, fantasy village which was confusing to the point of numbness. 😕

I didn't get the film either... Ranveer and Deepika were plain horny lovers! What was there to perform when both are like that in real life. #burn.
