Aishwarya is more well known around the world and Ash is one who has introduced BW to many around the world. Ash is an icon. I don't view PC as a superstar or an icon.
SRK and Big B are also more well known around the world.

BW was introduce around the world even before she entered BW world...

i don't know much abt the black and white BW times...but yes it was introduce by that era too...

it got more recognised with Big B...HAHK(Salman-Madhuri)-the first film of indian cinema who got recognised all over the world and dubbed in various languages...it was a ATBB in India as well as worldwide...and SRK who brought it to various heights...this 4 stars introduced BW to various heights

Read carefully.

I DID NOT say that Aishwarya was THE one who introduced BW around the world. I said she is one of the ones who has. Aishwarya is the most well known Indian actress. Arguably she's more well known than a SRK or a Big B.

Ash became so popular around the world that her movies DVD's were reissued with just her photo on them ie see HDDCS or Kandukondain Kandukondain.

Someone mentioned Mira Nair or Guranda being the ones. They are filmmakers. I don't see how you can compare.
