The Congress has requested the Home Ministry to upgrade Shahrukh Khan's security to Y plus security. Very few people are given this status and it is equal to what the Cabinet minister gets. Shahrukh had gotten 2 batches of nine armed police guards as well as a police vehicle which escorts him wherever he goes.
With increasing acts of terrorism, Bollywood stars are asking for extra cover. Many Bollywood stars inlcuding Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai may be under threat, informs a highly placed police official. This is not the first time that the police have expressed concerns about the security of the stars. The underworld too have been on the case of the Bollywood film stars following refusal to pay extortion money to them.
