Hasee Toh Phasee has a decent opening weekend of around 16.7 crore nett at box office as per estimates. Film has collected around 6.75-7 crore nett on Sunday from early trends. Film registered a good jump of around 25% on Sunday from Saturday. Even Saturday registered a big jump of 40% from Friday.

After a slow start at box office on Opening Day Hasee Toh Phasee has managed to put up decent numbers for the opening weekend. Film is performing decently in multiplexes specially in metros and A-list cities. Single Screen business is extremely poor for the film.



Considering film budget and face value performance is ok. But looking at the release size of the film collections could have been even better. However, with film picking up on Saturday and Sunday, now let's hope that it holds well on Monday and then sustains well through the weekdays.

Collection Breakup -

Friday: 4 crore nett.
Saturday: 5.6 crore nett.
Sunday: 6.75-7 crore nett (est).

Total: 16.7 crore nett (Approx).

Hasee Toh Phasee had a fair weekend of around 16 crore nett as the metros recorded decent collections. The problem for the film was that it was only the really big cities that contributed well and also those with premium multiplexes.



Places in the same area had different results like Gurgaon had decent collections but Noida was comparatively less despite both being satellite towns of Delhi and both multiplex cities. This is because Gurgaon has the high end multiplexes.



The trend was pretty good over the weekend as the film grew around 35% on Saturday and a further 20% on Sunday.
The business was much below Shuddh Desi Romance which was a hit film released last year with a similar cast and budget. That film had grossed 23 crore nett over its first weekend compared to the 16 crore nett of Hasee Toh Phasee.



Hasee Toh Phasee should remain steady over the weekdays but with the film just collecting in the metros it will curtail its business on the final tally. The approx business over the weekend was as follows.



Friday - 3,95,00,000

Saturday -5,35,00,000

Sunday - 6,55,00,000



TOTAL - 15,85,00,000

Hasee Toh Phasee Enjoys A Good Opening Weekend At The Box Office

It was predicted in this column last week that Hasee Toh Phasee would take an opening around the 50% mark. However the footfalls were a little lesser in the initial shows, what with occupancy hovering around the 30%-40% mark. Things improved though in multiplexes of some of the major metros of the country with 70%-80% occupancy which evened out the scenario to some extent at least. Eventually, the first day collections were above 4 crores, though one did expect at least 5 crore on Friday. Expectedly though, Saturday and Sunday were stable with weekend collections to the tune of 16.75 crores approx at the Domestic Box Office.

If one compares it with Shuddh Desi Romance which had brought home 23 crore over the weekend, Hasee Toh Phasee is little behind. In fact its collections are similar to Yaariyan [19 crore] which had an all new starcast. Still, as a standalone film, this Sidharth-Parineeti film has earned a decent run due to its decent budget and controlled release size. All of that would ensure that this Karan Johar-Anurag Kashyap affair turns out to be a plus outing for all involved. Given the critical response, it could have covered greater distance though.

Heartless was the other release of the week and it found some decent to good reviews coming its way. The collections didn't throw any crores though and one waits to see how rest of the week turns out for this Shekhar Suman film which has seen a good comeback effort by Adhyayan Suman.

Babloo Happy Hai, as suspected, couldn't see a wide release and the collections were minimal too with not much to write home about. It too saw some decent reviews with its subject (on AIDS awareness) being appreciated too. Now if only this aspect was promoted too, it would have been better for the film's awareness as well.

On the other hand promotion for Ya Rab began too late in the day and it wasn't really optimal when the film eventually arrived in theatres, and that too on a minimal screen count. This indeed reflected on the collections too which were miniscule.

Sorry, I found the movie too boring and confusing. I couldn't watch it for movie than an hour.

Aahh...finally a romcom with a difference...authentic scenes, innovative direction, cross-cultural digs - but not crossing the lines, Pari's brilliant take as Meeta and Sid's hotness and a crackling chemistry - are the plus points👍🏼
