Role or no role, Kat has contributed more to this "success" than AB has and that's the bottom line.
I guess that's your bottom line but doesn't make it correct. As I said stars can sometimes gaurantee an opening but for a film to continue to have success after days depends on the film. Abhishek is a big part of the film even more so than Kat is.

I'd say that the way Kat as an actress was treated in the film says more about her so called star status than anything else.

arshad warsi even had a solo hit last year jolly LLB when was the last time abhishek gave a hit 😕 actors like ritesh, boman. sharman and arshad gets appreciated a lot for their work in multicast movies. their family dont fuss for credits in twitter.

There may have been negativity around Aamir's casting in Dhoom 3 but he was prominent in poster and trailers. Katrina may have had a small role but film is being promoted on her songs. Dhoom title song, Malang, Kamli and Tu Hi Junoon are all over TV. Only those who have seen the film know she has a small role. Others don't know that at all. Even in brief presence she gets more reaction than Mr. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

@ponymo - I may have missed that Arshad interview but at least he had right to say that. Circuit is iconic. Jai is not. The only Jai that people remember after coming out watching D3, is title of Jai Ho.

I don't know why we discuss a man whose parents and wife have to create tantrums to get him attention and "respect"!

Credit's due, so make way for "Uday Chopra Dhooms at box office".

Bachchans have gone bonkers now. Amitabh's PR is claiming there's lobbying going on for Amitabh to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor at this year's Oscars. Oscar for blink and miss role in The Great Gatsby! 😆

SRK should thank Abhishek for being in HNY. Aamir should already drink his charnamrit for taking him to 300 crore club. Salman should beg him to forget past with his biwi and agree to work with him so that he too gets near to 300 crore club.

Never saw anyone talk about giving credit to Boman Irani for Housefull, Don and Munnabhai series. Or Arshad for Munnabhai and Golmaal series.

Why all brouhaha over Abhishek?

The openings of Game, Players, Dum Maaro Dum, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se etc. prove what a force Abhishek is.

There are just too many assumptions in this, I'll go through them one by one.

1) I don't know a single soul who watches a film for Abhishek Bachchan

That may be so in your very limited personal experience, but that doesn't equate to - "no-one watches a film for Abhishek Bachchan", see if that was the case then no-one would have ever watched his films, period, his combined collections of all his films would've been big fat 0. The fact that his films do open in theatres and does collect, even if its low, proves that there is an audience who do watch his films.

As for Dhoom 3 itself, I watched it for Jai-Ali, I enjoyed their camaraderie and antics in the first two, I've never cared for the villains, nor the stars, nor for the hot actresses, unfortunately their roles were completely amputated in this.

Btw, not everyone watches films for any particular actor, for me the film is always bigger than any actor, and my decision to watch a film is never based on any star. I understand this is a novel concept in India. 😆

2) An actress is at least eye candy so her fans claim grosser as hers is at least eye candy so her fans claim grosser as hers.

Yes, her fans may, but what has someone's hotness got to do with the rest of us film lovers who go to watch a film? I find it ludicrous and hilarious that an actress is given credit for doing nothing but look hot 😆, ok fine, she's hot...??.. and...??, how did her hotness impact the story in anyway??, if we took her out, would it had made any difference to the film and its success?, if not, then does Katrina really deserve any credit?

3) And why are sympathy cases made only for him? Just because he is Amitabh's son and Aishwarya's husband?!

This assumes that we are "sympathising", and that we are doing this specifically and specially for Abhishek because he is Amitabh's son and Aishwarya's husband. 😆 That is one big gross generalisation right there 😆, so let me swiftly refute this by saying - not everyone gives a damn about Amitabh or Aishwarya, I certainly don't.

You see, may be it could be due to the fact a key member of the series was completely sidelined and ignored by the team?, maybe it's because people genuinely felt that he was treated unfairly by the producers? There are many reasons, it really has nothing to do with whose son and husband he is, that could be A reason for some, but it is not THE reason why people are defending.

maybe i'd like him more and give him mkre credit if he did t look so lazy. the guy put in zero effort into his look. compare his cop look with that of one of the guys from F&F. i mean, theyre not exactly known for their acting either but they dont look like slums.

So Arshad has the right to say it because you think he's iconic? And Abhishek doesn't have the right to say the same because you think he's not iconic? Okayyy.

Yeah, maybe if they are amnesiac. But if you ask people to tell the names of characters ten years from now, the first names you'll hear would be of Jai and Ali, not John's or Hrithik's of Aamir's characters names.
