Trade expects Dhoom 3 to break existing records and set new benchmark at box office. So, what are the records that Dhoom 3 is currently chasing at the box office. Dhoom 3 chasing Records Set by Krrish 3 (Biggest Single Day, Biggest Grosser, First Week), Chennai Express (Opening Day, Opening Weekend, Worldwide Grosser) and 3 Idiots (Biggest Overseas).

1. Opening Day - Chennai Express - 33.1 crore nett.

2. Biggest Single Day - Krrish 3 - 35.9 crore nett.

3. Opening Weekend (3 Days) - Chennai Express - 93.65 crore nett. Around 100.15 crore nett when Thursday Extended Paid Preview is included.

Looking at Film Release Buzz and Advance Booking Report, Dhoom 3 should take Historic Start at Ticket Counters from Tomorrow. That means all box office records are in danger right now as Tsunami is ready to strike.

Biggest overseas grosser of all time is 3 Idiots with 26 million, not 24.5 million, and biggest worldwide grosser is still very much 3Idiots, CE can close but 3I still leads. (BOI)

Me thinks D3 will smash the biggest single day, weekend, first week, second week, biggest overseas opening weekend and domestic lifetime records. Some of these records will be a cakewalk what with the release scale and festive period, others will depend on how good the story and glamour/style is and whether the film has excellent repeat value.
