I shut satyagarh after 15 minutes and GTPM after 10!
Kareena really does need a whole new plan
in fact its not really a plan- its a do or die situation. That's probably the only option left!

and why does kareena live under the myth that commercial = entertainment?
her last movie was more boring than many of the documentaries airing on various channels!

It's difficult to straddle two boats and still appear authentic in your intentions. This epiphany of attempting newer genres and unconventional directors would have been such a glorious transition for her. But for the thorn in the flesh - Singham2. Sudhir Mishra movies and Singham2 are so drastically different from each other that it seems she still is indecisive about the path she wants to pursue. There are other commercial films she can take up which are not as over-the-top and which do not cater to the lowest common denominator.

Kareena's new career game plan revealed
By Subhash K. Jha, Dec 18, 2013 - 10:20 IST

With the signing of a film each with Dev Benegal and Rohit Shetty, Kareena Kapoor Khan has embarked on a new phase in her career. It's time for the very beautiful actress to re-invent her career. And with the signing of Dev Benegal's Bombay Samurai, Kareena has finally opened the doors to avante -grade directors.

Says a close friend, "Though she has done out-of-the-box films like Sudhir Mishra's Chameli and Govind Nihalani's Dev, Kareena has largely shied away from unconventional films. Aanand Rai was very keen to cast her in Raanjhanaa. But she got cold feet."

Aanand Rai admits he was keen on Kareena at one point for Raanjhanna. "But she just did't seem interested. I don't think she knew about me. Once I zeroed in on Sonam, it was Sonam all the way."

Another director desperately desirous of working with Kareena was, and is, Sudhir Mishra. Two years ago he wanted to cast her with Farhan Akhtar in a desi Rajasthan-based adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Like many other Bollywood attempts to adapt Hamlet, Dhruv too fell by the wayside largely because of Kareena's indecisiveness regarding an unconventional director.

Kareena had said to me, "I'd love to work with Sudhir Mishra again after Chameli. But if I do another film it can't be Hamlet which is way too dark and edgy. I want to do a masala film opposite Farhan."

While the Farhan-Kareena pair is finally happening with Dev Benegal's film, projects with Sudhir Mishra and Aanand Rai are also being discreetly discussed.

Yes, Mrs. Khan is in the mood to sink her teeth into meaty roles. Dibakar Bannerjee is also likely to cast her.

But hang on. Kareena is not giving up the commercial masala stuff. No way! She has just given the nod to Rohit Shetty's Singham 2. But only after he re-wrote the role to suit her star status.

Says Kareena, "As a commercial actress I've done it all. Now I'd like to balance out the more massy stuff with something more unconventional. I would like to work with Aanand Rai, Sudhir Mishra, Dibakar Bannerjee and Rakeysh Mehra. And I'm working towards it."

So Bombay Samurai is a masala film ?? And Farhan has as mass hero..??

That's what she HAD said at the time she turned down Dev about 4 years ago. Old statement of hers.
And absolutely agree with SingularlyGood.
She still doesnt wanna let go of commercial cinema completely. This Rohit Shetty was so unneeded. Main reason why I've stopped caring about her career.

I would've supported her till the end had I seen that she's learned a lesson and is being more choosy but not. Singham 2.
I dont mind rohit shetty. But I mind Singham 2.

That said, I still look forward to her more quality films opposite Farhan and some of the other makers she mentioned.

Lol like she will have the patience to do hard work on unconventional roles now, when she didn't have any during the peak or younger days. She has this chalta hai attitude and her movies also chala jata hai after one day run in the theaters.

Its because she does not actually want to do these "unconventional" roles or work with these directors, but she doesn't have a choice due to lack of offers. So she's wooing the other side. The minute more commercial directors start approaching her again, she will go back to "Aanand Rai who."

good she did not do ranjhanaa
she would have done a good job but the chemistry of sonam with abay and dhanush would not be the same with bebo

sonam was perfect for the role!!

Something like Shaadi Ke Side Effects. It would be have been such a beautiful film with Saif's urbane charm and Kareena's goofball zaniness.
