Saif Ali Khan: One of the Inimitable Khans

When you come to think of Bollywood the names of the ruling Khans inevitably come in the forefront. For more than two decades the Khans are reigning in the industry. The Khan trio that always claimed the position of the Bollywood's uncrowned king consisted of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khanand Salman Khan, not in any particular order.

There's one more Khan who always was the underdog and continues to be ignored in the process of identifying the uncrowned king but with a string of hit films like, 'Dil Chahta Hai','Hum Tum', 'Kal Ho Na Ho', 'Parineeta' and ' Salaam Namaste' no one doubts his worth. Yes, it's undoubtedly Saif Ali Khan.

hough Saif made his Bollywood debut in 1993, his role in 'Yeh Dillagi' in 1994 with Kajol and Akshay Kumar gave him the much sought after fame. But it was not so easy for the star son. Being the son of celebrities like Mansur Ali Khan Patoudi and Sharmila Tagore did not help him much and being the exact replica of his mother, he was considered too feminine, with his long hair and lanky looks.

Luck still was not in Saif Ali Khan's favour and he kept struggling to make a mark in the industry with occasional success to his credit like 'Main Khiladi Tu Anadi', 'Kacche Dhaage'and 'Hum Saath-saath hain'

In 2000 his career was kick started again when he was cast in Farhan Akhtar's hit film 'Dil Chahta Hai'. With the success of this film his career graph took a steep rise and a series of Saif Ali Khan's memorable performances followed. His performance in 'Hum Tum' won him the National Film Award for the Best Actor. His performances in 'Parineeta'and 'Salaam Namaste' were both critically and commercially acclaimed. Recently, Saif Ali Khanplayed the lead role in 'Being Cyrus'.

On personal front, Saif Ali Khanwas married to actress Amrita Singh until recently. He married Amrita Singh in October 1991 and they separated in 2004. He fathered two children, a daughter named Sara and a son named Ibrahim with Amrita. Presently, he is dating an Italian lady Rosa.

Well, that was the glimpse of the career of one of the Industry's very famous star. Is Saif Ali Khana strong contender for the throne of Bollywood's uncrowned king? What do you think?

great topic... these r my answers and thoughts:

i agree that he has improved a lot in acting .... i feel that after dil chata hai he has chosen roles that suit him and he has also improved his acting skills. now i think saif has the talent to do a solo film and create a hit out of it.

i think as compared to before he is now a more prominent khan and one rocking khan as well. but i dont think he shud be considered amongst the three big khans of bollywood, srk, salman, and aamir. these three have accomplished so much more from the start that comparing these three wid saif is not justifying, as saif has recently climbed the stairs of success while these three have achieved so much from the very start. and i think right now he cant be considered a king khan cuz srk , salman, and aamir r the ones who cud only compete for this title, but in my opinion this title has been given to srk, and it shud only stay wid srk, cuz he deserves it. 😊

yes they were all good and i think these performances were his best performances.

i think this title cant be replaced cuz its been given to one khan onl.... and thats srk, and after srk, until now salman and aamir have never been called king khan, u mostly see it attached to srk, so if aamir and salman have not gotton this title attached to their names then saif cant really replace king khan right now... i think 4 now he can be called a good actor, not a replacement for king khan. 😛

i luved saif in parineeta and omkara, i think he shud do roles like he did in these two films, it shows that he is capable of doing tough roles, rather than that i think he justifies all his roles.

* More than that i wud also like to say that saif is a gud and talented actor..... he is proving to everyone that he can also do different roles.... he is getting better wid every role he doz! 😊

~*~He is already part of the Khan group...Khans dominate the bollywood industry and if ur a Khan then you already belong to that group....as for KIng Khan after SRK I think only Aamir can become the secong king khan

~*~ Hum Tum was alright, i thought he was really good in Kal Ho Na Ho, havent seen Parineeta yet, Salaam Namaste was light-hearted film so he was also good in that one, and havent seen the other two but have heard that he did a mindblowing performance in Omkaara

~*~ No, only person I think that of right now who can replace King Khan is Aamir...this year Aamir gave two back to back super-hit, while SRK has only KANK so far and of which KANK is only being considered as a Hit in India

He can join but zat wil take him lots of efforts as he wud hav to act better zan aamir n salman n if he succeeds 2 beat one of these two best actors ( after srk ) then he can b considered to be among the elite groups of Khans but its really really tough for him.😕

Between the others i like Dil chahata hain,Hum Tum n Salaam Namaste a lot.His acting n character was really wel played and he deserved the best comedian award for Dil Chahata Hain.👏

i liked omkara, humtum coz of songs, salaam namaste - disgusting, parineeta was good but haven't seen being cyprus but his films have good acting

no not reallu i think unless he starts doing motre hard roles like in omkara and negative as well as postive, and more vesatile. i don't think depends if he does more hard roles like omkara

Yes he has groomed himself well. I never liked him in the starting but after KHNH and Salaam Namaste and Hum Tum I am a big fan of him.

I think he has. Most of his films after "Ashiq Awara" didnt go too well. Later, he followed "Main Kiladi Tu Anari" which also wasnt a success. He stuck gold in Farhan Akhtar's "Dil Chahta Hai" He also got an award for the film. He has improved if you compare his first movies and his latest movies.

If you compare Shahrukh Khan and Saif, ofcourse Safir would look like a tiny mouse and SRK as a big giant lol. I dont think he belongs in the King Khan groups. Sorry if I hurt anyone - but Im just expressing my views.

I loved Hum Tum. He did a great job acting in it - not being a comedian. Kal Ho Naa Ho was the best. He did a great job with the help of Shahrukh Khan. Parineeta - hmm I didnt like the storyline and I didnt really get Saif's role in the film :S Omkara... wow, he did a fantastic job. I think he'lll walk away with the Best Villian Award or Best Actor in Negative Role for Omkara.

I dont think that will happen. SRK has already adopted the name and I dont think anybody else deserves it unless they do a spectacular job.
