Sonakshi Sinha and Shahid Kapoor in Dubai for R... Rajkumar!

Hottie Shahid Kapoor and the gorgeous Sonakshi Sinha are in Dubai to promote their movie R...Rajkumar that's releasing in the UAE on 5 December. We got chatting with the stars on why the Rambo went missing from their movie title, falling in love and being pampered, Rajkumar-style!
R...Rajkumar has a lot of action scenes. How was the real life action when you were performing it?
Shahid: There's a lot of action in the movie but this film is different in that it's not about superheroes fighting etc. The fights are very normal, which means they're real fights happening on the streets on the roads between normal people. The fights are very mawaali and raw in nature. It took 88 days to shoot the movie out of which 50 were for action.
How has this role been different for you?
Sonakshi: The roles I've played before have been very coy. In this however, I'm very rowdy myself. I hit people, bash them up and have a lot of action. I've always been in action films but this is the first one where I have actually done actions scenes. Also the love story is very strong and that drew me to the movie.
The songs in the movie are very interesting. Which one is your favourite?
Shahid: All the songs in the movie are very special to me. Prabhu Deva has choreographed all the steps and it's the first time I have danced with him. I have a very different dance style of my own that was difficult to change for the movie. I thought I was the best. I realised though that there was very little I knew and understood about many of the dances.
What made you fall in love with Rajkumar?
Sonakshi: He's a very persistent fellow and a bad boy. Keeping all that aside, he's also very charming and loveable.
The name of the movie was previously Rambo Rajkumar, what was the reason for the change?
Shahid: The Rambo people got insecure! Jokes aside, there were actually technical issues around this so we decided to scrap it. Prabhu Deva then said, "We don't have time to think about the R' so we will just leave it and tell people to find out on 6December". We thought we'll keep it as an element of surprise.
You've usually always had a very sophisticated and coy look in your other films, so how hard was it to get into this edgy look?
Shahid: See till now I was fooling the whole world, now they see the real me.
Do you think heroes in Prabhu Deva's movies should sign up for anger management classes?
Shahid: (laughs) Don't angry me! I think sonakshi Should answer that. Since she loves these angry men.
Sonakshi: Well, so does everyone else so no one shold be complaining. I know you all like bad boys.
Was it fun to say all these one-liners? It sounds so implausible to listen to.
Shahid: Absolutely. In real life you don't get the chance to say lines like these and cannot pull off naturally. But it's a lot of fun. I like doing things I enjoy and like to make sure everyone else enjoys it as well.
In every movie there are some parts that can be watched after 10 years as well. Which ones would these be for you?
Sonakshi: Well, the songs for one can be watched again and again.
Shahid: Hum to humaare bachchon ko dikhayenge ke dekho beta main aise dance kiya karta tha! And my focus is that dus saal ke baad dekhe ya na dekhe, abhi ke liye dekhlo.
Kids are called Rajkumar or raja beta. Who treated you like a rajkumar and pampered you the most?
Shahid: My maternal grandparents have pampered me the most. My nana and nani used to spoil me a lot. They would get me gifts and I would choose from those and pick the ones I liked. If I didn't like something, the next day more gifts would arrive . I stayed with them till I was 10.
Rajukumar ke andar Rajkumar abhi bhi zinda hai?
Shahid: Mere andar toh Rajukumar hamesha zinda rahega! Because this is one of my favourite films. This is the most fun I've had working in a film and I've loved working with Prabhu Deva and Sonakshi and Rajkumarwill always be in my heart.
