I am traditional when it comes to love: Deepika Padukone

Actress Deepika Padukone, whose sizzling onscreen chemistry with 'Ram-Leela' co-star Ranveer Singh is talk of the town, says her notions about romance are very traditional.

The 27-year-old actress is playing a free-spirited girl opposite Ranveer in the musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet'.

"I believe in the old school form of love, which I have seen growing up with my parents and my extended family. I am very traditional when it comes to love, marriage and relationships. This is because I do not know any other way as I have been brought up like this," Deepika said.

For the actress, who has collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the first time, has been the most difficult film in her career.

"'Ram Leela' has been the most difficult film that I have done. This is because I had to go on the shoot like a blank slate everyday and he (Bhansali) would mould me. I would go on the sets and take the day as it came. So, it was unnerving because you don't know how the day would go," she said.

Deepika has given powerful dance performances in the film but she did not undergo any formal training to polish her dance moves.

"Fortunately or unfortunately I have never needed to take any kind of formal training. I learnt Bharatnatyam when I was in school. It's not that I learnt it specifically for the films.

"Before 'Om Shanti Om', I went for Kathak classes for about six months, after that I think with every other song that I have done in movies, I rehearse before we go to shoot but there is no formal training," she added.

It has been a busy year for Deepika, who has given back-to-back hits with 'Race 2', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' and 'Chennai Express'. However, she does not intend to take a break and would be filming her third film with Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Happy New Year'.

"It has definitely been an exhausting year. I had been juggling 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', 'Chennai Express' and 'Ram Leela'. But the results of these movies have been great and I am happy about it. In terms of the amount of work I am doing or the pace at which I am working, I am loving it. I think I am almost workaholic.

"There is no point in a day when I am not thinking about work, or something that is related to work. The only thing I regret is not spending enough time with my family," she added.

Ram Leela is the first movie in which lead actors Raveer Singh and Deepika Padukone paired and they have been the talk of the town since the trailer launch. The two have been on a promotion spree off late and they are enjoying all the attention they are getting from reports.

Rumour has it the the two actresses have been dating for a while now but both of them have denied it. Many celebs tend to get tired when asked repeated questions about link-ups and relationships. However, it's interesting that Ranveer and Deepika have been answering the long list of questions fired from the media persons.

Even though the reports keep throwing back-to-back questions, this on-screen couple has not got irritated or annoyed. Instead, they have kept calm and interacted well with everyone. One of the reporters even asked Deepika if she is bugged of all the questions related to her love life. We are surprised at the quick answer she gave. "No, I am not tired. I am more than happy to talk about it," she quipped.

"Let's not shy away from the fact that it is one of the main things that people are talking about as far as the promos are concerned. It's the first thing that people are reacting to when they see the promo, so it is definitely a great thing," she further added.

Both the actors even expressed that they would like to work together in any future projects too. "I hope when people see us together in the film, they want to see more of us every time we are not on the screen. I also hope that we get to do some other work soon," Deepika said.

On the other side, Ranveer too said he enjoys working Deepika. He said, "I would love to collaborate with her (Deepika) again because she is one of the best we have. Hopefully, we will get that opportunity sooner rather than later." We see that this on-screen couple really enjoy being together and also enjoy talking to the media spontaneously and the media channels are loving it too.

I would highly recommend watching it instead! Its just too good!😆

Even if someone writes a transcript of the interview, you would never be able to enjoy it the way it is supposed to be...and hear Ranveer singing, 'Can we touch your baaawdddy...'🤣

thanks dear... i will surely watch it when i get back to home...i watched the Omar interview...it was really funny...deeps was more chirpy n ranveer a bit silent...that omar guy is 😆...will surely watch rajeev masand interview...

yesterday i was talking with my father...he is telling me next week i am going to watch that film...arre deepika's film...i was like now a bhansaali film has become deepika's film...she has truly achieved what she deserves to be...now its ranveer's time...hope he gets his share of success...

Catching up with all the new videos and interviews, they're coming in thick and fast! Don't think Ranveer was too amused by Omar in that Zoom interview, combination of horrid questions and Deepika flirting! 😆 Masand's interview was much better, it couldn't be more obvious that they completely *get* each other. Ying and yang indeed. Even their outfits have become very complementary. Subliminal messages perhaps?
