Sushant backs out of Fitoor, too busy! - Page 12

Has success gone to Sushant Singh Rajput's head?

The Shuddh Desi Romance actor was supposed to do Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor co-starring Katrina Kaif. But we hear that Sushant has now backed off from his mentor's next film. Too busy, eh?

Kai Po Che! was a dream launchpad for Sushant Singh Rajput to flip from TV into Bollywood. The Hindi serial heartthrob proved his mettle as a serious actor courtesy director Abhishek Gattu Kapoor, who gave him his first filmi break. While the movie impressed the audience and the critics alike, Gattu became known as Sushant's mentor and took a keen interest in the actor's career. The talented former soap star was even signed on to do the lead role Abhishek's next film Fitoor, with Katrina Kaif as his heroine - the film is said to be an adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel, Great Expectations. But the whole guru-shishya equation changed when SSR went ahead and signed Shekhar Kapur's ambitious and long delayed project Paani. Apparently Sushant had a showdown with his mentor-director, as Kapoor believed that dates for Paani could well clash with the shoot of Fitoor. Looks like Abhishek wasn't wrong, after all!

Reportedly, Sushant has walked out of Gattu's film coz of date issues. The dishy actor tried to convince Abhishek to change his schedule but the director refused. Well, if Sushant has actually quit the project, wethinks he needs to do a proper rethink. Now we all know Shekhar Kapur'sPaani is an interesting film with universal appeal, but it has been in the pipeline for the last seven years, hai na? Instead of walking out of Fitoor, the Rajput lad should have asked his Paani director to shift the dates for his film, since we and the whole world know for almost-sure that it will not start as planned anyway. And there is no guarantee that Shekhar Kapur will actually make the film now, or whether he will keep it hanging so long that his hero will have to be recast - remember theHrithik Roshan doing Paani story? We assume that going by the track record of Mr Kapur and seeing his time commitments nothing much will happen even though announcements have been made. As for Sushant, after delivering two back-to-back hits and signing a few good films, he has become a little too big for his boots, it seems. Isn't that why he didn't think twice before leaving his mentor in a fix? But if Paani does not happen when planned, will Mr Rajput go back to Fitoor and give Gattu the last laugh?

Now we aren't sure if Abhishek and Sushant will ever work together again, but we do hope Shekhar Kapur starts filming his long deferred film on water preservation, at least for the sake of SSR's budding career.
