How come Sushant get big films

being is right place at right time ... Luck by chance !

Combination of talent, luck, pr and most importantly brains.

He chose a good film to debut with, even though there were three leads in the film.
Gattu and utv showed film tapes to raju hirani, who needed a hero for small role in pk, which ranbir etc had refused. Sushant agreed to do it. This gave him hype. As it is he was popular. Pk and two film contract with utv helped him come in notice of yrf and he was called to audition. He cud nt do parallel lead in aurangzeb, but managed to convince utv to let him do sdr later. 3 film contrat with yrf on.
Bomkeysh bakshi he got after kpc success as dibakar liked his work plys he had contract with yrf plus dibajar wanted new guy. For paani ranveer and him were being considered but adi was keen on him doing it since beginning since ranveer had other projects at that time. Later after sdr success he was signed fir paani.
Fitoor he got dye to gattu who had talked to him for it quite early.
So basically along with talent, ssr has brains, good PR and luck and that helped him get movies, plus he was popular and both yrf and utv realised this during shooting of films when crowd used to shout manav manav

Rajeev also got good offers after aamir. He was signed by utv for another film, also SLB signed him for chenab gandhi. There wrre other good offers also. But his luck was not so good, utv was not so big in those days, the films got stuvk or shelved. He refused to do small roles in films like 7 khoon maaf which cud hv given him goodwill. Plus rajeev was not good at PR and marketing himself. This affected his futute in bollywood. Nw also he is doing gud work but films are small budget which are not promoted well. Plus at time when he debuted, outsiders were nt eelcomed like today and 3 film contravts were nt there. Today every PH is taking newcomers as they have to be paidmuch less than stars.

A curious case indeed ... He must have slept with all these people to get the big breaks - Abhishek Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabbra, Ronnie Screwala, Sid Roy Kapoor, Maneesh Sharma, Raju Hirani, Jaideep Sahni, Aditya Chopra, Shekhar Kapur, and Dibakar Banerjee.
