I don't think the experts mentioned here are the official ones. From the article it looks like the photos were sent to some other forensic expert who wasn't given the task to examine the body from the police. And this expert must have confirmed about the murder by examining the body and the marks as shown in the photographs.
Reg. the scars on her neck. As she is seen without clothes wrapped in a white sheet, I think this pic was taken after the post mortem was done. And I'm not too sure but I had seen a video of an autopsy and they cut the neck to remove the lungs and the other organs so the scar marks are usually seen because of that. Don't know...can be anything! Wonder how did the media stop reporting about this when they went on reporting about Arushi like for two long years.
The neck is also cut to examine the tissue underneath it, which is essential in cases of strangulation, ligature hanging etc. It helps to differentiate too. If it is death by strangulation it should have been picked up; I read two post mortems were done.
I am a little confused abt what is happening here, I for one am unable to understand which marks of belt on neck they are talking about. The marks I can see are in the mandible region, not in the neck. The saliva marks are not clear from the side of the face shown.
Is there any other medical student here?
