She got mixed reviews. No one said she was bad in her role. But that her role was under-developed or she didnt have much to do.
Which for Kareena is kinda like criticism coz Kareena normally gets exceptional reviews.

Of course, the reviews that didnt like Satyagraha, obviously liked very little about it. Those are the ones that criticized her role. But again, her role. Not her. Or that her makeup was too glamorous. Basically things that cant be credited to her.

Kareena Kapoor doesnt get bad reviews coz she acts well 99% of the time.

Kareena Kapoor is very good in the role of news reporter.

Kareena Kapoor is sincere in her attempt to play a TV reporter, but she looks a little too polished for the job. It would have been okay if she were in an air-conditioned studio or part of the PM's entourage, but in the backwaters of Ambikapur she stands out with her camera crew who seem to be on an extended holiday from their job.

While Kareena dazzles as usual, it is her character sketch, which is the most faulty. In fact, many filmmakers evidently seem to have no idea how the media offices work and Kareena's Yasmeen is miles away from that of a real-life journalist. Even when the whole of Ambikapur and at one point, the country gets involved in the Ambikapur revolution, Yasmeen seems to be the only journalist covering it and doing a bad job of it too.

Kapoor, Rampal and Rao come and go, as cricket commentators like to say, without troubling the scorers.

Kareena Kapoor Khan looks gorgeously pretty in a simple attire. She carries off the role of a passionate television reporter with elegance and sensibility

Kareena Kapoor works well as Yasmeen Ahmed, the journalist. She is somehow the voice of the film. Kareena is good and confident. This is her first time with Jha but she gives everyone an equally tough fight. She looks good, she speaks well and establishes a connect with the audience.

Kareena Kapoor is superb, though her character needed more screen-time.

Kareena Kapoor was shown as a talented journalist and she did justice to her role

Kareena Kapoor plays the role of Journalist. She looks very good and lighten ups the screen. Kareena was apt for the role.

Kareena Kapoor playing TV journalist Yasmin Ahmed shows her prowess in this genre too. She is stunningly pretty and plays a true Gandhian. Her romantic sequences with Ajay Devgn gel well to provide entertainment and real camaraderie in the greater cause.

Kareena Kapoor Khan apart from looking super gorgeous does her part very well

His lady love, Kareena Kapoor, who plays TV journalist Yasmin Ahmed, comes off as a natural even though she does not have much to work with.

Kareena is matchless in her role of a strong, fearless journalist.

Kareena Kapoor is extremely believable in her character

But the anchors of the show here are Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor. Ajay shows you why he's considered a great actor. Here you have a club 100-crore member quietly doing justice to his character in a middle-of-the-road movie. We need more lead heroes like this.Kareena too brings intensity and charm to her role. She's a feisty journalist and Kareena has the right livewire energy.

The bad reviews are like these:

Kareena credited here as Kareena Kapoor Khan "" no wonder the liplock is from behind her head "" is saddled with the most confused character of the film. She is a TV news reporter but gets so involved with the movement that her picture is splashed on all the Jan Satyagraha billboards and posters. She cries too but is far down the bucket list headed by Amrita Rao who is the real Sobby LLB of the film.

Take Yasmin. Why does she park herself in Ambikapur? To support the andolan, or to sing love duets with her new-found boyfriend? We don't know. Also, I don't recall anything about her except that she was bizarrely fresh-faced, needlessly smug, and always remembered the number of missed calls she had left on another's cellphone.

What sticks out as the most unconvincing, though, is the treatment of Kareena's character, Yasmin. Other than being absolutely pretty all the time " fully made out, every hair in place " Yasmin is fairly unbelievable as a journalist. There is no way that she, supposedly an unbiased journalist, would be allowed to be the face of a political movement while still working for her news channel. Her job is established in the beginning, but somewhere down the line she suspends all other work just to be a part of this group " and a fairly big part, too, since her face is plastered all over their posters. To keep the journalist label intact, though, the script requires her to report from the frontline of the scene very often... except that it's difficult to understand how any media house would allow anyone to become so openly involved in a political movement while still reporting from the scene.

I would say that we can OFFICIALLY say no.
Her hype and star-power has decreased incredibly within the last year. No one is talking about her. I hardly see anything about her, her pr has died down.
Her movie Satyagraha, has ZERO hype behind it and I didn't even knew that it released. Her reviews aren't that great.
Shes not like Aishwarya.
Aishwarya despite being married, being a mother and having no work is still commanding the same attention, popularity and star value as she did when she was single. If not more. She should be applauded for that, because even legends like Sridevi/Madhuri were forgotten when they were married.
Aishwarya commands more star power than some of the unmarried actresses.

In Satyagraha, critics feel she didnt have much to do, she was wasted, but she still got a few good reviews.
But if the film is a hit, it'll benefit, not to mention she's following it up with a super young rom com with Imran. And rom coms are right up her alleyway.
It sends a strong message out.

Bebo does different movies and I never consider her boring. I love the variety she is doing after marriage. Talaash was a mystery, Satyagraph is a political thriller, that Karan Johar romantic film with Imran Khan, etc. And her film with Emraan sounds interesting! 👏

Umm..no hype for Sataygraha?
It's done 45 crores now. Everyone says it performed better than expectation. 😆
Our trade pundits on the forum predicted 40 crores lifetime. So apparently, the masses have lapped it up. Maybe no buzz with students online, but cant say the same about the masses in India.
Her PR has stopped using her personal life to keep her in news as they should. She's married now, so there's hardly anything to sell about "when is she getting married"
She's focusing on her work and has bagged 2 big projects with Hrithik and Emraan Hashmi.
Had to opt out of Zoya's film as it clashes with Shuddhi.

Aish keeps the media and fans guessing about her comeback movie! But, it has been 3 years and the break is hurting her. She needs to have a release in 2014 and do a movie fast! 😭

Yeah but the point is that nobody is flocking over to watch Satyagraha because of Kareena, its clearly the content and other factors. Im sure if a newcomer was in her place the movie would've done just as well.
There is no hype "FOR HER" in the movie.
And bagging projects means nothing. Even Jacqueline and Ilena have movies with Salman, and they are not hyped at all.

In a film like Satygraha, all factors have to come together. THey were hardly flaunting Kareena to begin with. She's not even a central character. It's not her film. It's amitabh's film mainly and social context.
You wont be able to make that statement until the next film where Kareena is the lead character alone with an actor.

And how do you differentiate why people are flocking to a film? Coz that way, there is "No hype" for Deepika coz people flocked to CE for Srk. To YJHD for Ranbir, to Race 2 for Saif/John, etc etc.
This assumption is easy to make.

So far, Kareena has not displayed the symptoms of a declining career.
Her last onscreen outings were Fevicol and Talaash, for God's sake. And those were successful by popular means.
This year she has had ONE film, and already people are making assumptions on HER star power based on how one film does? And even not how one film does, but if people are flocking to go see it. It's a limited genre. It lacks pull towards the youth coz it has a senior starcast. Obviously it wont be attracting crowds like a Chennai Express (with Khan) or YJDH (young vibrant starcast)

But there are masses in India above the age of the youth who wouldnt mind seeing something like satyagraha. And those are the sectors that are watching the film.

Well that's just the wishful thinking that you as a fan of Kareena has. Her career is def on the downwards spiral. Its a fact.
I love how you highlighted Fevicol, and Talash as successful, yet you conveniently didn't mention the big disasters like Heroine and Agent Vinod. She took a big hit after the failure of Heroine. Her and Madhur were shouting from rooftops about how shes gonna win a national award and what not. It def backfired.
Talash despite being successful financially, still underperformed and was not as big as it was expected to be. Content wise it was very average.
Right now its all about Katrina, Deepika, Priyanka, Sonakshi. Kareena is still up there, but she is not as relevant as she was in 2007-2011.
I give Kareena another 1-2 years and she will be finished and will be like Rani/Preity.

The topic is if she's still successful. Not if her career has taken a dip. Those are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
So no, I'm not being wistful. I'm being practical and anyone with an ABC knowledge of bollywood will say that Kareena is INDEED a successful A lister even today, considering that she's still working in big budget projects, gets enough work, and has successful films.

Ever heard the phrase you're only as success/unsuccessful as your last film?
Coz otherwise I can bring in, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, Bodyguard, Ra.One, blah blah blah. And since this topic is about Kareena post marriage, shouldnt I mention her work...post marriage?

And please get your facts somewhat right. She not ONCE made any comment about winning a national award.
In fact everytime Madhur mentioned it, she would cringe because it put too many expectations on her. And not just that, but a reporter straight up said to her, this film will be a huge hit, do 100 crores, and she just laughed and said, lets not get carried away. I am no Khan.

Sonakshi? You put Sonakshi but not Kareena? Whose last film was Lootera?
And as for your prediciton, considering Shuddhi comes out in 2015...you're gonna have to extend your "deadline" a little bit. Coz of that film is successful, she aint going anywhere 😉

Honestly, I don't count Talaash much because she shot for it before marriage and it released pretty soon after her marriage. Like 16th October the marriage and Talash released towards November end? That being said, she gave Fevicol se dude.. 2 months after marriage and it was topping the charts for MONTHS. She's voted in Top 3 just recently in the sexiest woman poll by FANS if I am not wrong? Again that's after months of being married. AND AND fans literally bombarded KJo for Hrithik-Kareena to be in Shuddhi together and they're together in it if that's something to go by that people do want to see her even if it's with a specific costar. So if she's going to be in business till 2015 atleast then that heck yeah that says a lot. 😃
