It was tragic IMO that Madhubala and Dilip Kumar could not get married...they made a great pair onscreen..

Oh yeah sorry hole in the heart. I should seriously listen to my sister's conversation properly

One interview I found of actor Vineet Kumar:
What brought you to Mumbai from Varanasi?
I won a talent hunt in 1999. Judge Mahesh Manjrekar was very impressed with me, and I was like, 'This is it. All my dreams will now come true'. I came to Maximum City to maximize my dreams only to realize how difficult it is! I started doing the rounds of production houses and would often be shooed away by the assistant directors or even the security guards. I auditioned for any role that came my way. My savings saw me through the first six months. After that, I started shifting to cheaper places every month and would do all sorts of roles to pay my bills. Sometimes, I would sleep in the open even during rains. I would cry all night. Many of my friends went back. I helped a dozen of them in packing. It felt like I was packing their dreams. I did not give up as Maheshji believed in me.

I kept going back to him thinking mera number bhilagega, but nahilagaussdarmiyan. He wanted to cast me many times, but commercial pressure forced my roles to go to known names. Then I started working as an assistant director with him and did around seven films till 2007. The period between 2006-2010 was very difficult. I thought of ending my life so many times, but didn't give up. In between, I did bit roles in Dhokha, Jashnn, Chain KhuliKi Main Khuliand Pitah. In Jannat, I played a cricket team's captain who took bribe, whereas in Crook, I essayed the role of EmraanHashmi's dad. In one film, I even played the ghost. I kept hoping that people would notice me and call. But that didn't happen. Most thought I had lost my faculties, as I was an eye doctor and a national level basketball player who left everything for Bollywood. Finally, a break came with Mahesh Manjrekar's City Of Gold, which had been in the making for more than five years. The role came to me after big names backed out because of the delay. My name was written and ticked off lots of times. Finally I got the lead role, but the film did not work.

It might be because we were not good enough or purely due to bad luck. As far as BW is concerned many strugglers are simply glamour struck and try their luck in Bollywood for the wrong reason.
The key to success is to work on your strenghts and overcome your flaws. And yes also walk away when you are beaten. Maybe Jiah wasnt good enough to become an Alist actress. But there are many avenues in life one can achieve success. Like for instance Subhash Ghai came to Bollywood to become an actor but he got rejected and he became a successful director. Ronit Roy started out with a successful film but couldnt work on his initial success. But later he overcame many problems including alchoholism and became a huge star on TV.
When many doors were closing for Jiah she should have explored other options instead of giving up.

On Jiah's twitter profile it mentioned how she was a singer and that she had even completed one album, but it wasn't released yet. An actress in Bollywood didn't really go the way she wanted it to, but she could of pursued her interest in singing. Who knows? She may have been a successful singer.

Also when I was watching the news yesterday they said that a couple days ago she had auditions and got rejected and was really upset after that. All of this could have led her to re think her life. :/

But I agree with everything you said.

if you are from a filmy family most of the time doesn't but it depends on the type of person you are...if you are strong you might succeed..
